With Harang pitching, that would be par for the course.

What an ugly ugly ugly ugly lineup. Probably the worst I've seen in a long time. I think I'll skip tonights game.

Skippy hits a soft line drive single to RF and Lopez bloops a broken bat single into LF. They aren't hitting the ball hard but have two runners on.

Andy Phillips is my first nominee.

WTF -- did I miss something? Andy Phillips is our cleanup hitter? Richar and Castillo are #1/#2? Where's EE? Where's Keppinger? Where's Dickerson? Where's Cabrera. WHERE'S THE INTEGRITY!?

I see we're not going to get Volquez to 20 wins. But with a few more lineups like this and another relief appearance, we could get Harang 20 losses!

Andy Phillips K's swinging on a 3-2 belt high fastball right down the middle.

Good grief. Glaus hits a routine groundball to Andy Phillips, he has all day to throw and still throws 10 feet wide of first base. Error on Phillips.

MrCinatit
09-17-2008, 07:25 PM

Andy already having a pretty rough day. Like to see him make it up with a walkoff.

I think I would at least be looking at players who had a future here. Phillips (I hope) does not. Great throw by the way. Patterson might be a necessity with Dickerson injured, but Janish is and will always be a sub. Get him in the game, but start him?

BTW, this is going to be a pitiful night for offense (hope it works tonight, but I seriously doubt it.

Any reason why Phillips is playing instead of Adam Rosales? That doesn't make any sense to me. Please don't tell me Phillips might be part of the 2009 roster... We don't need a 32 year old, corner utility guy with a mediocre at best bat and glove. Fine for September roster chaff in a losing season, but we've got a plethora of bench options who might actually have a future.

I'm starting to become a huge fan of Albert Pujols. For some reason I never did like him but this year that's changed. I've become a big fan of his. Apparently he's been working with Votto on his footwork around the first base bag and helping him become a better defender. It's not often you see a player from another team doing something like that.

OK, I see your point. But it really makes no difference in the whole scheme of things when you're playing Phillips as you cleanup, Janish at short, Patterson in center, Richar and Castillo. That's half your lineup being Judy hitters.

Focused. I'm not so sure. This team is mostly devoid of talent across the board, but enthusiasm makes up for some of that. You have to consider that the pitching has been superior lately. You don't need many runs if that is the case. Arroyo pitches a gem last night and Harang a better gem tonight. No pressure because the staff is doing its job.

We don't know what the chemistry was when Griffey and Dunn were here, but the pitching was worse and that makes a big difference. It's understood that this won't happen every night and more offense and defense is needed to make this club a contender and I think everyone from WJ to DB knows this. The recent winning streak has a lot more to do with other teams not playing well than what we're doing unfortunately. But I'll take it every night and the only danger if we believe that we have it all, winning games with 4 hits and 3 runs when reality tells us that it really isn't going to do it over a 162-game season.

Matt700wlw

They have plenty of work to do to make this team a contender, but I like what they have to work with...they may finally have the right kind of foundation in place in which to build something solid.
