I hope this is the last i read about integrity? You guys are making it the "talk to the hand" quote on this board.

GG lives in STL? That makes sense......and he now crows about how great Lopez has hit since getting to STL.

It appears freaking Felipe Lopez is the new Reds killer. The Reds are probably better off losing these final two games as it would give the Reds a chance at a better draft pick.

Amazing what coaching and superior scouting will do to put your players in the absolute best position to win.

Boy......EE is one hitter that just drives you nuts with his complete lack of knowing what to do in certain situations and just hacking away.

Just the type of player ripe to be traded. :D

FCB.....so Walt knows what he is doing?? Really.....3 catchers again? Valentin again?

I think someone else made the decisions in STL

Bruce is 0-for-2 but has seen 18 pitches in two atbats. I like that.

crazy inning. Votto doubles, and then nothing.

Like OBM said, maybe it's for the best.

Does Grande actually live in StL or was that just speculation?

OnBaseMachine

Javy Valentin has a .743 OPS and plays awful defense. There is absolutely no reason he should be brought back in 2009.

I think a lot of the Jocketty interview was simply the polite 'jock talk'.

I don't think that Walt is going to tip his hand with people like Welsh and Grand.

As for the 6% that voted for Patterson it just proves that there are always people that like to fly in the face of reality. :)

It was 0% for CP....if it was possible it would have been Less Than Zero.

Who are the morons who put Javy at 10%??....or even Lincoln.....a 1 year stopgap who you got lucky with..... He was a lesser version of the 1992 Scott bankhead.

Jeff Keppinger. Wow. Another error on Kepp. Should have been the third out, now it extends the inning for Miles who singles.

Wellemeyer singles to score a run. How many runs has Jeff Keppinger cost this team just in the last three games? I can count at least six.

OnBaseMachine

5-0 Cardinals after four innings. Keppinger cost Harang two runs and about 12 additional pitches. Seriously, Keppinger is easily the worst shortstop I have ever seen.

I feel sorry for this pitching staff. It's gotta be frustrating to constantly have misplays and errors behind ya. Jocketty has GOT to improve the defense in the offseason.

George seemed pretty happy that Pujols just homered off the Reds.

When Pujols goes into the Hall, perhaps he should have the shredded, bloody remnants of a Reds uniform in the background on his plaque.

Cripes - Edwin gets a double, and what does George go on and on about? Pujols jogging behind him as he goes towards second base.
Seriously, we as fans deserve a lot better than this, don't we?

Of course it was a meaningless game--both teams out of the running, with the Reds being out long ago, but for crying out loud...

Listening to Walt in the booth, you had to believe he wasn't telling much. Earlier, he wasn't trading Dunn and Griffey, but did in the end. The man keeps it quiet and I have to believe that we'll see some changes.

Keppinger is simply a horrible fielder. I assume Wayne's generous contract to Gonzo means he will be the shortstop next year, but why not look around. Same goes for the unintelligent playing of Edwin Encarcinon. Why do you put up with that? Cheap?

This is a team with so many utility players--Keppinger, Freel, and Hairston. How many can we accumulate and never address the real issue--quality players at every position. We do not need three. Someone should go.

It appears they've settled on Hanigan as the new catcher, so why do we need both Bako and Valentin (who only pinch hits)? Come on.

And on the field, oh heck I give up. It's almost over and I'm sad. It's a long time until Spring Training and all we have to look forward to in the next five months is speculation. And snow (for some of us).

Humbug.

The Reds will probably lose tomorrow and finish on a five game losing streak, but they are still guaranteed a winning September. That's impressive when you consider that Dickerson and Phillips have missed most of the month, and Bruce missed a game or two and is still playing through soreness. I was fairly pleased with the way the team played in the last month.

Screwball

Unbelievable the number of Cards' players that (far) exceeded all rational expectations: Skip Schumaker, Ryan Ludwick, Rick Ankiel (kinda), Aaron Miles, Felipe Lopez, Todd Wellemeyer, Kyle Lohse, Braden Looper (much better as a starter than last year). Hell, even Pujols has had by far and away his best season (an absurd 189 OPS+) this year.

If the same confluence of awesomeness happened for the Reds, we'd probably be about 6 games over .500 as well. I'll be honest, I had bet against the Cards heavily this year, and I got burned by it. I'm not sure how much you can really attribute to coaching or just flat out luck (everybody having a career year at the same time? Really?). At any rate, they won't make the playoffs either, and they'll have a much worse draft slot to show for it.

I look forward to next year. Perhaps they'll put up the same numbers they did this year. More likely, they won't.
