I haven't searched the forum for this topic yet, but I just noticed that the yankess declined the option on him, from what I recall he has been decent in the past and is a hard thrower, possibly a lefty??

What do we think?

He is a lefty and he'll be 34 years old next year. He'd be a decent option if we dont keep affeldt for another year or so.

I love Marte, filthy stuff. For sure I'd love to see him in a Reds uni next year.

The Yankees declined his option so they could renegotiate a multiyear deal for less money.

I mentioned him on a free agent thread awhile back. I'd like to have him. He was just making too much money and the Yanks are finally realizing who they are overpaying and who they aren't.

He's a good reliever that was just making too much money. It would probably do him some good to get out of New York, also.

Marte has been solid with an xFip in the high 3s and low 4s, but he hasn't been dominant. he has very high k/9 rates throughout his career, but he has also showcased some control problems in the past. He would be a good pickup, but I would certainly not overpay him or outbid the Yanks to get him into the bullpen
