Hey, it's snowing outside and we're in the midst of Super Bowl week, so what better time to share some Baseball news and schedules with you? ESPN is planning on bringing you around 80 games in 2009 and FOX is planning it's normal set of two or three regional games each Saturday.

Interesting collection of games, and taking a quick look through both the Cubs and Cardinals will be getting the lion's share of appearances on each network. Of course the ESPN schedule is only through July, and that could change, but prepare yourself for a good number of NL Central games this coming season. Here's the team breakdown....

Cubs- 12
Cardinals- 11
Mets, Dodgers, Twins, White Sox, Braves- 10
Angels, Phillies, Yankees, Red Sox- 9
Indians- 8
Astros, Tigers, Rays- 6
Giants, Brewers- 5

I wonder why America doesn't want to watch a team full of "fringe" players.

Yikes... Look at that list of teams:

Blue Jays, Marlins, Padres, Nationals, Pirates, Reds, Rockies, Royals- 0

Please tell me this proud franchise isn't on-par with the Royals and Blue Jays.

We haven't made the playoffs since 95, history only carries you for so long.

Yeah, that's pretty sad...not even a Fox regional game.
If I remember correctly, the only "national" game the Reds got last year was on TBS against the Red Sox.

Look at the Blue Jays record the past 5 years.

We're definitely not on par with them. They are a "winner" every year by Cincinnati standards.

No surprise about the Cubs. But the St. Louis Pujols' next with 11? Don't get me wrong, Albert is one of the top hitters in history, but I'd rather turn off the TV and write a letter to my jailed uncle than watch the Cards. I'd rather watch the Brewers or Astros, both whom I despise, than the Cards. Anybody else? The Cards are the San Antonio Spurs of baseball, except not a dynasty.

They aren't showing the Reds on "FREE" national TV so that the mulitude of Cincinnati fans across this great country of ours will be forced to purchase some sort of "Extra Innings" package. That's the ticket. The Cincinnati Reds are baseball's pay-per-view 'ace in the hole'. Baseball knows it has a gem in Cincinnati Reds' baseball, so in troubled economic times, baseball has taken the advice of ex-Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. Paraphrasing here, 'when you have something of value you just don't give the freaking thing away'.

I think it may have something to do with George Grande being one of the original ESPN anchors from way back in the day.:D

I'd watch these fringe players than see Griffey limp to another ball in the OF or Dunn swing at Ball 6 for a K.

Honestly, we didn't even really deserve to be on national TV last year. So I'm not surprised we're not on national tv this year.

They are fools if they don't understand that these REDS are going to be great to watch. Let us slide under the radar then.

Putting the Reds on a national broadcast is like scheduling a minor league team.

Sucks for someone who lives in Pittsburgh and can basically only watch them on FSN Pittsburgh when they are in Cincy, go to the games here, and try to catch an online feed the other times. Oh well. I'm not surprised.

You got to earn the right to be on there and you get respect by winning. This franchise is a joke to most outside of Reds country.

if you're outside of ohio and have a few extra bucks, look into see if your cable can get MLB Extra Innings.
