I am listening to it on the computer.

Twins just got a guy to 2nd on a double. I don't know how many outs.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 01:15 PM
1 down. Double off the wall, then Jay Bruce nearly picked him off jogging into 2nd.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:16 PM
Crede just flew out to RF, runner moves up to 3b, two outs.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 01:17 PM
1-0 twins. They're hitting the ball VERY solidly off of Aaron.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:19 PM
It was a basehit from Kubel that scored the run.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:20 PM
Harang gets the third out, 1-0 Twins after one.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:23 PM
Ward flies out to start the second inning.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:24 PM
Jones grounds to SS for the second out. He's now 2 for 12 on the spring.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:26 PM
Janish pops out in foul territory. 1-0 middle of 2.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:28 PM
Bruce hauls down a long drive to RF on the warning track on the first pitch. Harang is indeed not fooling anyone at the moment.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:29 PM
On the third pitch of the second inning, Harang gets a lazy fly to left. Two outs.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:30 PM
Just lost the feed, Sir Charles.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:31 PM
I'm back, the inning appears to be over.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:32 PM
Catcher attack in the Reds third, Hanigan leading off, and then the oft-criticized former first round pick, Mesoraco, followed by Dickerson.

Single game tix on sale for Twins games at noon cst tomorrow. Good tix still available.

Hanigan grounds to 2b, one out.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:34 PM

Perkins has thrown 28 pitches in his 2 2/3 so far...

BRM

From Fay.

Jay Bruce and Chris Dickerson each made nice catches in the second. Dickerson slammed into a wall in center after making his.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:35 PM
Dickerson flies out to CF. 8th pitch of the inning. 31 pitches total for Perkins' three innings.

1-0 mid 3.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:37 PM
Brendan Harris leading off the bottom of three for the Twins.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 01:38 PM
Is that the same Harris that played for us several years ago?

He singled by the way

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:39 PM
Harris singles through the hole between short and third on a 3-2 pitch to start the third.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:39 PM
Same one.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:40 PM
Good health report on Joe Nathan, and he is scheduled to pitch Sunday for the Twins. Make the appropriate notation on your fantasy draft sheets...

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:41 PM
Count has run full on the leadoff hitter, Harris was running on the 3-1 pitch that was fouled off.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:42 PM
Leadoff guy ends up walking. 1st and 2nd, no outs.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:43 PM
Twins play small ball, Casilla lays down the bunt. 2nd and 3rd, one out. Casilla was the guy who doubled in the first inning. I don't mind the free out there...

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:43 PM
Joe Crede, erstwhile White Sock, is up. Still looking for his first hit of the spring and, therefore, his first hit while a Twin.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 01:43 PM
Bunted over successfully...Aaron almost threw it away on the toss to Ward.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:45 PM
Harang gets Crede to pop out. Two outs, runners still on 2nd and 3rd.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 01:46 PM
Bruuuuuuuuce. :O) Nice snag at the wall.

Harang didn't seem to be fooling ANYBODY. I know vets say that they tend to just work on stuff early on, but I haven't seen much Harang-like results from Aaron so far. Anybody else worried about that weight loss affecting his stuff? I sure am.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:47 PM
Kubel flies out to very deep right center. Apparently a nice play for Bruce to track it down in the wind.

1-0 Twins after three.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:50 PM
Walk to start the fourth for the Reds. Second free pass from Perkins to account for their only two base-runners so far. Bruce drew the other walk in the first.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:52 PM
Bruce has worked back from an 0-2 count to 2-2 and is battling.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:53 PM
Bruce singles into RF, Gonzalez moves to 3b. No outs.

Francisco up.

Nice at-bat for Bruce against the lefty.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 01:53 PM
Rosales at 3rd...just to clarify

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:54 PM
Francisco Ks. One out, Ward up.

membengal
03-06-2009, 01:54 PM

Ward waddles into a Phillips.

1-0 Twins middle of four.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:00 PM
Delmon Young singles to start the fourth for the Twins.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:01 PM
Young tries to advance on a ball in the dirt. Hanigan makes a nice stop of it, keeping it in front of him, and throws out Young at 2b.

One out.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:03 PM
Ground ball into the hole knocked down by Rosales (hey, they got it right that time!), but can't make a play. Infield hit.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:04 PM
Next pitch ripped into left field, Jones apparently half-rear ends it to the ball, allowing hitter to go to 2nd.

Second and third, one out. Harang's day is done.

03-06-2009, 02:04 PM

sac fly to Bruce makes it 2-0 Twins after 4

Ron Flores in for Harang btw.

Fly ball to LF ends the inning.

2-0 Twins after four.

Jason Jones in to pitch for the Twins

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:12 PM

membengal

Fly ball to LF (Janish), two outs.

Hanigan up.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:14 PM
This game is flying along.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:14 PM
Few base runners, few deep counts will do that.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 02:15 PM
3 up 3 down. Did the Reds' equipment manager remember to pack those big wooden sticks for the trip to the Twins?

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:15 PM
Hanigan dribbles out to 3b.

Three up and three down.

2-0 Twins middle of 5.

Maybe we should get used to this?

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 02:18 PM
Maybe we should get used to this?

No, I really don't think so. Look at the lineup there today...lots of regulars missing.

Flores is done, bully getting called.

cumberlandreds
03-06-2009, 02:18 PM
That is a fairly putrid lineup the Reds trotted out there today. We may be saying that a lot this season.:(

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:18 PM
Flores still in.

Short fly into Left center, one out.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 02:19 PM
Jordan Smith in.

Announcers making a big deal out of Jordan just walking in from the bullpen instead of at least jogging.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:20 PM
Maybe we should get used to this?

We probably should if the Reds run out many line-ups this year with Janish, Mesaraco, Jones, Ward, and Rosales.

Assuming that armageddon has not come to pass and this kind of line-up is never ever seen when games count, no, I don't think we should worry even a smidge about anything that happens at this point in the spring...

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:21 PM
Twins announcer pettily notes that Jordan Smith walked in from the pen. Apparently this already liquid fast game isn't getting over fast enough for them.

They are still complaining about it.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:22 PM
It really seems to have set them off. They are still talking about it.

They are like a dog with a bone over this.

Someone get them some Prozac. It will be okay, fellas...

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 02:22 PM
Twins announcer pettily notes that Jordan Smith walked in from the pen. Apparently this already liquid fast game isn't getting over fast enough for them.

They are still complaining about it.

Maybe Rosales should hit a dinger so they can see the complete opposite of Smith's approach. :O)

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:23 PM
Now they are imploring Smith's family members who might be hearing this broadcast to let Smith know the announcers didn't like how slow he walked in.

I am not making this up.

Fly ball to RF, two outs.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:25 PM
I wish I was in Ft. Myers so I could get in front of these guys at the checkout counter and unload my cart as slowly as possible.

2-0 Twins after five.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 02:28 PM
Devin with a leadoff double down the line.

I liked the call..."foul ball base hit"

Hopper up. Richar on deck.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:29 PM
Lots of changes for the Twins.

Mes up for the Reds.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:29 PM
Sir C's computer is apparently ahead of mine.

Double for Mes.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:30 PM
Hopper trying to bunt. No one is surprised.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:30 PM
Bunt was fouled off. Twins move all non-pitcher/catcher positions to two feet from the plate.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:31 PM
Hopper fools them and swings away, tapping to 3b. Mes able to move up, apparently.

Danny Richar now up.

_Sir_Charles_

Mesaraco out at the plate. Apparently a VERY close call.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:33 PM
Richar taps to 3b, and Mes cut down trying to come home.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:34 PM
Jay Bruce apparently discussing with the ump that the call may have been, um, "wrong".

Doesn't sound like very good base-running regardless.

Bruce up.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:35 PM
Richar steals 2b.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 02:35 PM
"Jones abused Bruce in that at-bat" ~ twins announcer

Really? A k by Jay...I doubt that he was "abused". Richar also swiped 2nd, but to no avail. Inning over.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:36 PM
Bruce chases a bad ball in the dirt, Ks.

Announcer claims that Bruce was "abused" in that at-bat. He does have one of the mighty Reds' two hits, though, so, in your face Twins announcer...

2-0 Twins middle of 6.

_Sir_Charles_
03-06-2009, 02:37 PM
Gomes in for Jones (LF)
Hopper in for Dickerson (CF)
Richar in for Rosales (2B)

Jordan Smith still in.

membengal
03-06-2009, 02:38 PM

I'm hoping we see more of that Louisville announcer more often this season for the Reds. I don't recall his name, but he called a VERY nice game when up with WLW. The contrast was kind of staggering IMO.

I recently saw a video of Jordan Smith throwing a slider, and 'wicked' is definitely the word that came to mind. Some people say he profiles as a reliever, but he has a starting pitcher's frame and good velocity, so I don't think it would be ridiculous to say he has a chance to be an effective starter some day.

I agree. I've never understood the contention of Smith being bullpen bound. He's got excellent stuff and I don't see any reason that he isn't starter's material. Regardless, he's definitely someone I'm keeping a close eye on this season.

Jay Bruce apparently discussing with the ump that the call may have been, um, "wrong".

Doesn't sound like very good base-running regardless.

If there is one out, a runner on third, the runner should try and score on a ground ball on any "close play". The fact it waas close shows it was correct.

membengal
03-06-2009, 03:32 PM
The play was only close, according to the announcers, because the 3b hesitated at least two beats before deciding to come home.

Which is to say, it should not have been a close play.

I am not a fan of running into an out at home when your #3 hitter is due up next.
