Not the worst start for BA. Good to see Yonder, go, well, Yonder!

And Jones really has been a blackhole this whole ST hasn't he. I think that this is a good thing, in that at least the team shouldn't be tempted to use him, eh?

Yes,

My first thought when I saw today’s lineup was that it looked like it was packed with quite a bit of power. Of course I did not want to say anything for fear of being dead wrong. But so far so good.

I understand, but he's being out hit by Gomes and Ward, I believe and I doubt they're going to carry all three. Jones will need to step it up if he wants to make this club. I never felt any of these guys were an automatic. They'll have to play to make the team.

I agree to an extent. The spots are there for Gomes and Jones. Always were IMO. They just have to hit a little and they are good. Ward is the guy who really needs to play well to make the team. That said, I can see them carrying all three.

5th granny of the spring for the Reds, and it's March 9. Whacktastic.

If I'm Baker, I'm getting a good look at Valaika at SS this spring. Move Keppinger around at other spots.

Do you see them carrying six OFers?

Bruce/Taveras/Dickerson and then three of Gomes/Jones/Nix/Ward?

LeCure's wife is a former softball catcher for the Texas womens softball team. I'd say he brings the heat for her. ;)

Yes, if one of them is Ward. He'd be the #1 pinch-hitter, also backing up at 1B and LF. FWIW, I think only 2 of those 4 will make the squad if Gonzalez is healthy enough to start the season. A healthy AGon allows Hairston to play more OF, eliminating the need for the extra guy out of that group.

If Valaika can cut it at short, and Gonzalez is healthy, I'd say that Keppenger goes

Valaika is playing very well, but I just don't see any chance that he heads north with the big club. He needs a full season in AAA IMO. I just don't see any valid reason for rushing him (or Frazier for that matter).

I don't think we'll see that happen.. Keppinger rakes against LHP... Then again, where will he play if Gonzo is healthy and Edwin plays like I think he's going to play...
