Absolutely ridiculous, why did this happen?
Then you turn on the radio and they're talking about one of the most bizarre plays ever, makes you feel like you're living in one of the tv shows where they miss the biggest play after ordering the ppv. At least glad they got a win!

This also happened during a UC basketball game that was on FSN Ohio in December. What I think happened is, is that they have it computerized to switch over at 11:30. Thats inexcusable when your airing live sporting events.

Wouldn't they have planned on the reds postgame show being on too though?

This is pretty bad! Thank god for Marty and the cowboy.

We should demand that Insight Comm carry mlb tv as well. Of course that is only if you live in NKY.

FSN Ohio on Mlb.tv worked. That's weird. You would never think the guy in Boise, Idaho would catch the game over the locals!

Luckily, I was able to switch over to MLB Network, and they had the highlight of the bizarre play AND the final out recorded by Cordero.

Plus, Barry Larkin and Sean Casey on the analysis, so that's a bonus. I'm really liking the MLB Network so far, even if Larkin and Casey are pretty weak on-air personalities so far. I knew they would have highlights of whatever happened at the very end as soon as it finished.

But yeah, that ticked me off pretty badly. No excuse to cut off a live sporting event like that, ESPECIALLY the climax of a close game.

I am a huge fan of MLB network....I sometimes lay in bed and have to pinch myself so I know I am not dreaming....I have been asking for a all baseball channel like this since the NFL channel came out. my wife is pissed more often now since I spend 2 hours a night glued to round trippers.

I sent an email to the Reds complaining. They must have been getting some calls, because the post game was on.

Yes, but they tried to cover it up with an apology that said it switched away from the UC game due to a computer error. So basically, they lied, because there is no computer error. The error lies with the cheapos at FSN that won't hire someone to work that night so they program their computer to switch automatically to the next program at a certain time. Last night that time was 11:30. Most games that start at 8 end around 11, so they probably figured that if anything they might cut off a little of the post game show, which wouldn't be a big deal.

We need to voice our displeasure over this, or it will keep happening. They cut off the overtime period of a UC game because of this, and now they cut off the 9th inning of a one run baseball game. After the UC game the complaints were bad enough that the media picked up on it which forced FSN to issue their BS apology, and we need to do the same here.

I was shocked when this happened. You sit and watch a game for three hours, only to lose coverage during the two most critical outs. I'm in Columbus and thought it may have only been a problem here. Guess not...

I found the BS explanation from FSN on Bill Koch's blog from the UC game. I assume this same "rare computer generated error" switched from the Reds game last night as well?

Fox Sports Ohio did not cut away from the UC-EKU game intentionally Saturday night, according to Steve Liverani, senior vice president and general manager of FSN Ohio.

“A rare, computer-generated error at Fox Sports Ohio’s transmission center in New York caused the very unfortunate switch from University of Cincinnati men’s basketball to other network programming at the end of the UC game on Saturday,” Liverani said in a statement released Sunday. “When Fox Sports Ohio received notification, we immediately went to work to correct the problem. However, because of the amount of time left in the game, we were not able to override this computer-generated error in time.”

For some reason our local Insight Digital cable had the whole game blacked out, all night. (Southwest KY) Yet some of my buddies called me and said the feed was there, only on the "from the wall cable." So I went to our one room and watched it on our smaller TV that didn't have a cable box, and just was straight to the wall.
I guess sometimes having all that Hi Def stuff doesn't pay off.

The game was on to it's conclusion on 652. Instead of being pissed off use your remote to locate other channels it is shown on.

Wowzers. In cincinnati I think 652 is 90's rap or something.

Explanation from FSN per Lance's blog. Weird, it seems like I've seen this before.

Statement from FS Ohio
"FOX Sports Ohio would like to sincerely apologize to the viewers, as well as to the Reds, for the technical mishap that resulted in our transmission being interrupted just prior to the end of the last night's game. The network experienced a very unfortunate switching error, which occurred at our transmission center in New York.
FOX Sports Ohio produces as many as 145 Reds games each season, and we take great pride in the production quality and expertise that we bring to each telecast, which makes this situation very disappointing.
We will review the telecast circumstances to minimize the possibility of a reoccurrence."
Henry Ford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, FOX Sports Ohio

Welcome to the new era of automated switching. Rather than pay the money to have a master control operator flip the switch, FSN thought they'd save money and go auto.

The only thing that bothered me was that it was in the middle of an inning. Thankfully, our radio is already tuned to the Reds' Flagship Station.

I think they lost the feed or something. I switched to the Brewers station and caught the last out.

They went right to commercial and then came back w/ P-Doc. He said they'd be going back. I listened for a bit, but they never did.

Wonder what Marty will say tomorrow night.
