John Fay and Mark Sheldon have both said on Twitter that Edwin is going to the DL for a bone chip in his wrist and Rosales should be in Cincy for tonight's game.

Man, I was so excited about starting a thread! Beat by a few seconds...

I hate to see Edwin sent to the DL, but maybe his rehab assignment will also help him get back on track at the plate. I'm pretty excited about Rosales though. I'm considering heading down to the game on the chance that we could see him play tonight. I'll have to keep an eye on the forecast though.

I wonder if it's really a wrist problem or an excuse to take him out, either way it needed to be done.

Seems more like an excuse to me. Either way, something needed to be done. Glad to have Rosales up here and I hope he starts tonight.

A bone chip in the wrist could be the reason for his horrid hitting. I know he is always been a slow starter, but I feel like he is starting even slower than normal

Big news, I'm headed to the ballpark tonight, wonder if Rosales is in the lineup.

Appears Hairston is at 3rd tonight and DMac in the OF.

It's amazing how the Reds family can have such sad and then great news in the same day. (See thread on C. Trent, and Docs downsizing)

My first feeling when I heard this news was excitement about seeing what Rosales could do in Cincy. My second was fear that Dusty would make Hairston the starter at third, and Rosales the utility infielder off the bench. I certainly hope this doesn't continue, but I'm not confident in that.

Rosales already played today in Louisville. I'd imagine he can still play, but I don't think it would be a good idea to let him play twice. Just let Jerry play his game at 3rd.

I think Rosales will get an AB tonight as a pinch hitter (at least I hope so). Here's hoping he takes advantage. I would love to see him in there while EE "recuperates."

I hope that's all it is, DT.

Me too. Give Rosales his shot to stick with the club.

This from Fay's blog, just updated:

An MRI revealed the small chip. Encarnacion will be in a cast for a week. Baker suspects he'll miss at least three weeks.

Hmmm. Three weeks.

Sweet, hopefully it's 3 months

Hopefully he comes back in a month and he's 100%. When healthy he's still one of our best and most clutch hitters.

I hope he takes all the time he needs to get fully healthy. Do MRI's on his knees, hell his whole body. Make sure he is absolutly 100% healthy if you know what I mean. Then give him 6-8 months of time to do nothing put sleep, workout and eat right. After that give him another few months to gear up for baseball. Then another few months to work on his swing.

I expected big things from Edwin this year. I do think this injury hurts us. Rosales isn't capable of Edwin numbers. No one is that will be filling in for him.

Sure would be nice to have Keppinger available now.

Someone on the ORG mentioned he hurt it last night, but was "Bothering" him since spring. If it's bothering you for a month, why didn't he get a day off here and there? And if it happened last night, what explains the sucktitude up to last night?

Sat in the first row behind the dugout tonight. Edwin has a black cast that goes about halfway up his forearm and covers his thumb.

Wanted to see Rosales PH but he was on deck for the third out in the 7th, put Nix in in the 8th (good move) and was on deck for the final out.

Awesome... Let's celebrate one of our best hitters being hurt...we are lacking offense and y'all are celebrating one of our best chances for offense being hurt. When EE gets healthy Rosales will either go back to AAA or become a utility infielder.

Well done. :thumbdown

He needed the rest, that's for sure.

How did he hurt it? Punching the wall after a K?

You see how these things always play themselves out?

I am not one for first impressions (I said to be patient and wait 6 weeks before considering trades etc. concerning the Reds offense). Rosales is a breath of fresh air. He is almost like a MARK THE BIRD in a sense. Let's be the BIG ROAD MACINE again on this upcoming trip. :beerme:

Rosales could have Edwin type numbers and i would still love him (no homo)

I hope he gets healthy, but I think the Reds organization needs to cut their losses with him. He's been on the team years now, his defense is among the worst, if not THE worst in MLB for a 3B starter and he's completely inconsistent at the plate. There's a point where he is what he is, and he's never going to be an All Star impact player and its time to move on to new blood.

I think Rosales could become a really nice player. I like Bruce in the cleanup spot too.

I honestly think that Rosales should become the everyday SS and Edwin at 3rd when EE gets back, but thats just me.

My posting privileges are limited here, but I was at my first game of the year today and was wondering what song Adam Rosales comes to bat to? Words contain "everybody move in" I believe I heard. Thanks in advance.
