Pineiro's ERA may look nice but he's allowed more hits than IP and he has a 7 BB/10 K ratio. Hopefully the Reds offense can get to him.

My between inning Star Trek review:

Went with my 7-year-old. He clearly does not know the history. I am 37, while not a Trek fan per se, had seen most of the original movies and enough of the original series on re-run to be considered informed.

Great movie. Highly recommend it. You don't have to be a Trekkie to really appreciate it, the story makes sense, I thought the acting solid, and the effects were amazing.

Two Reds caps up to that one.

As scary as this sounds, this lineup has been pretty successful as Traveras grounds out. No Votto and no Phillips, but 5 runs. Most days with Votto and Phillips they can't score 5 runs. Hmmm.

This team is scrappy. They have holes, but I believe just about everyone on the team has a desire to win. They're easy to like.

Please don't jump to conclusions, WV. It's been nice to see, but that is a series of bloops and seeing eye singles that have fallen in to help make this happen. In no way, shape, or form is Phillips and Votto's absence responsible for lady luck favoring the Reds in those balls falling in...

The Cardinals are a disciplined ball club at the plate. They work counts, and make pitchers work, even when those pitcher's are throwing as well as Cueto is.

Well the Reds #5 started yesterday and Cueto is starting today. Wouldn't that mkae him the 1? Honestly, after two weeks of the season I don't think it matters when you pitch.

Or, perhaps, Cueto is the #6 starter? And we don't have a #4 starter.

Barring injury or crappy pitching, the Red's starters will continue in their current rotation regardless if one or more of them pitches better than the others.

Cueto has thrown 98 pitches, the Cardinals started hitting him last inning, and the pitchers spot is due up now with a runner on second. Looks like he's hitting. I'd pull him.

Edit - I forgot about the short bench. Good decision to allow Cueto to bunt there.

Him and Phillips both have the flu. Votto has it really bad and is on IVs.

Cardinals had the wheel play on, which left the middle of the infield wide open. With two strikes, I can definatley see the logic.

With Votto and Phillips sick it's just stupid not to put him on the DL right now. This has went from a 25 man roster to a 22 man roster. At least for a few days.

Nice managing by Dusty to leave Cueto in to hit last inning to work on the bunt rather than waste one of his few bench bats and then again for lifting him after the evening of work he gave the team. PC just under 100.

And, again, Dusty has been on point in his handling of Cueto and Volquez going all the way back to the start of last year. Complete opposite of the Cubs stuff. He gets major props from me for appearing to have learned from that experience.
