I would have played Janish at SS and used the DH for his position.

Owings would hit for himself, and then we could have used a PH for the pitcher's spot as required.

forfreelin04
06-23-2009, 09:06 PM
The problem I have with Dusty is that "he is" a great player manager. In the effect that he knows how to handle personalities. He has strong loyalties to his players and tries to put them into situations where they can excel. The problem with this is that he does it to a fault. Just like an actual player, he is immature in his desire to see his players perform well. This sort of tendency leads to poor lineup construction, leaving pitchers into long, and putting players in bad situations where they might have a chance to excel but the statistics say they will fail. The players love him because he makes the same decisions that they would make if they were manager. However, what the Reds or any team needs is a steady dose of logic and to know their limitations. For instance tonight, everyone knows that Micah Owings is a better option at the plate then Rosales and Tavares but yet they are allowed to hit and Micah is not. This sort of blind loyalty will keep the Reds from .500 this year. (Amongst other things of course)

Votto hits it hard right to a shifting Scutaro behind the bag. Hairston to 3rd. The steal looks smart now.

I can certainly see Ramon traded if the Reds are out of it at the Deadline. Hanigan has proven what many thought he couldn't do. Hit big league pitching.

I would completely agree with that. Hernandez has been prett valuable to this point....but if you can trade him for a little bit of value, do it asap.

Depends if you are buyers or sellers. Having two useful catchers is a luxury most teams don't have.

I don't see Ramon hitting .280 anymore. He might prove me wrong once he gets back into full time catching again, but I just don't see it.

Sure wouldn't mind a guy batting leadoff who can actually find first base without a map and a compass.

RHP Frason in.

I'm thinking you'll see Richar or Nix for Rosales, depending on if they tieing run is up or not. If it is, you'll see Nix, if Bruce is retired I'd probably save Nix for WillyT's spot in the order.

I'm not laying all the blame for this teams woes at the feet of Willy Taveras.

I'm just sick and tired of watching him make outs at the top of the order.

Stuff looked pretty nasty too.

His stuff has had a lot more movement lately than it did earlier this season, but his velocity is still down from what it was last year. I hope that he's truly turning it around, but I'd like to see that MPH climb a little more to convince me he hasn't just hit a lucky streak.
