Quick first inning for Bronson. Nicely done. "In the middle of one, the D'Backs have nothing and the Reds are coming to bat."

Arroyo with a very nice 1st inning...

Seriously, when was the last time Bronson had a scoreless first inning? Seriously.

~just checked. Okay, it just SEEMS like he allows runs in the first. 2 of the last 4 he's had a scoreless 1st. (make that 3 of 5 now).

Arroyo retires the first two batters, walks the next too. I don't recall the line-up (fill in the blanks for me please). The next player singles and Jay Bruce throws the runner out trying to score.

Sometimes it's the play you don't make that counts. Web gems are nice, but not at the expense of errors -- particularly one that advances two runners for the #3 hitter.

Are the Nats in this one? Looks like the D-Backs to me....lol

Nix cost the Reds one of those runs by throwing over the cut-off man, futiley trying to get Upton, which allowed Reynolds to go to 2nd. Of course, the next batter, Parra, singles, knocking in Reynolds. The net result is that the Reds are down 3-0 instead of 2-0.

With two down, Willy T. turns the wrong way and lets one get over his head for a double. No damage, as the next batter hits a routine fly back to WIlly T.

After 4 and a half, D-backs 3, Reds 0.

Who here REALLY didn't see this coming tonight?

Arroyo has been giving up gopher balls at a Milton-esque clip this year and THIS offense vs Haren? I mean, really, who didn't see a blowout coming?!?

I did, and still do, expect to take 2 of 3 in this series, but I wrote this game off a few days ago.

Yeah, you'd have to be nuts to think they had a chance in this one. You're not likely to find a worse return on the number of innings pitched this season than Arroyo.

Let's see if Ramon Hernandez can pull off the impressive, yet rarely accomplished, 5 run lead-off walk-off homerun.

If seven fielders threw their gloves at the ball and hit it, Ramon would be awarded 21 bases, equalling five homeruns and a single, and everybody would walk off except Ramon, who would be circling the bases for quite some time.

Sadly, it didn't happen.

:)

With this offense, good pitching dominates the Reds and they can sometimes score some runs against bad pitching. Unfortunately, the Arizona pitcher was his usual competent self (as either Marty or Thom said tonight, he is a true ace who pitches well 99% of the time unlike our so-called aces who are hit and miss) so we didn't have a chance from the start. Like taking a knife to a gunfight (bad cliche, I know).

Walt? You see this? Oh, yeah I forgot. We're only 3 games out, right?

I sat this one out. So stone me.
