(1) HR kills a rally?
(2) Triple means we rely on the REDS to hit w/ RISP?

I'll take the rally killer.

About a week shy of 4 years...

July 28, 2005. 6-1 win.
* Jason LaRue 2-for-3 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs.
* Brandon Claussen 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER.

The day before the REDS won 7-6 over the Dodgers... Ryan Freel had 5 stolen bases.

Yeah, let's attack Taveras. He led off the game with a fly ball off the wall and busted it down to third for a triple and scored.

Meanwhile, Votto and Phillips don't run out their hits, EE is still charging Furcal's pop bunt, Dickerson couldn't find the fly ball, and Owings thinks he's pitching in the home run derby.

Just for the record, I agree with George on the non-HR. The ball hits the top of the wall, then the angle it takes after it hits the wall carries it away from the field of play. It had to have hit the sign and bounce back in. Nothing else explains how it changed trajectory.

Grande's delivery is fine....and he seems like a great guy, but I always feel as if he's calling a Little League not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings or really analyze anything that's happening. This wouldn't be so bad if he told interesting stories (ala Scully) but he generally reverts to tired cliches and bland details.

I actually think Welsh is pretty decent, but Grande basically never sets him up like a play by play guy should.

It's easier to announce for a team that is occasionally in the race playing meaningful games. Those games create their own drama, their own interest. With the Reds, the announcers have to help create fan interest.

I like George's attitude. Some guys will criticize bluntly and that's fine (to a point), but others, like George are more polite about it. He's a Reds play-by-play announcer, not a critic, not a color guy, just the guy who tells you what's going on.

Just so I don't sound like I'm related to him, I don't like his home run catch-phrase, and his laugh is a little "interesting." :)

Wow. I was shocked that Manny swung through Owings' lifeless fastball in his first AB, but he sure didn't get fooled twice. My only problem with this scenario is that he remains in the rotation. Nick Masset should be getting a chance with Owings being demoted to the bullpen. Owings continues to be a 5th starter that resembles (like I said earlier) Josh Fogg and Matt Belisle. I thought it was bad when the Reds blew a 3-0 lead tonight.
Then I looked at the box scores and see that the Twins just blew a 6 run lead and are now down 14-13.

Broxton on, looking for his 23rd save.
