LOL.

The end. Once again, the game is essentially over in the 1st inning.

I think a mercy killing is in order for this team.

Nice "effort" by Taveras.

5 batters in, Cubs have hit for the cycle. 4 of the 5 hits should hae been outs.

- Missed play at 3B by EE turns in to a leadoff double.
- Bunt advances runner to 3B. 1 out.
- Willy T pulls up short on a tweener to short right center and the ball shoots through for a triple. 1-1.
- HR. 3-1.
- Grounder up the middle - Hairston takes three steps before throwing and the runner beats it out.

Ugly, ugly defense. Cueto isn't locating well but he's getting no help whatsoever.

Willy Taveras has to go. Simple as that.

Whatever happened to Mario Soto, working with these guys?

I'm with TR, fire everyone except Votto.

An awesome start to the game!

Quite frankly at this point you have to wonder what exactly Dick Pole does with the title of pitching coach. 4 out the 5 starters are having considerable mechanical issues. Time to make some changes.

He has to marry him first because Tim Tebow is a virgin, or something.

That counts as EEE's daily brainfart. It's still early, so we might see another one or two today.

Today is EEE's 1,096th game as a pro third baseman. Played 611 games at 3B in the minors and today is his 485th game at 3B as a major league third sacker, er, I mean third slacker with the Reds. 9 yrs in pro ball, his 8th yr in the Reds' organization. And he STILL looks like a clown at
3B. It's really inexcusable that he has been allowed to play 3B this long. Should of been converted to an outfielder or 1B years ago. He couldn't play
3B for any other team in the big leagues.

Will Dusty blame Dickerson for Taveras-Baker jogging after the ball that got behind him???

What happend on the EE and WT plays? Sources say I was sleeping.

Apparently EE couldn't field a hit to third and Taveras let a ball scoot by him for extra bases. Also in this game Dickerson got a hit but was thrown out on the bases and Phillips couldn't catch a foul ball after a long run.

The Reds scored on a Taveras single, steals of second and third and a Votto sac fly.

I looked away from the TV before EE's miscue. I don't think it was as egregious as the WT play. WT and CD came together on a fly to right center, no one called it, and Dickerson made a play on the ball and missed, the ball got by and Willy Taveras lolly gagged after it, allowing the fleet footed Derrick Lee to get a triple.

Chris Welsh talking about Cueto and Tatum being unfamiliar with each other. Except for the fact that they played together in the minors.

Last Cubs manager to manage the All-Star game?

Phillips gets Votto to third by grounding to the *left* side. PRODUCTIVE OUT!

Encarnacion effs the fundamental play up, though, by grounding back to the mound. It's up to Gomes.

Say what you want about Dickerson, but he is at least playing like he cares.

It's not about caring, it's about talent. What are you THINKING!?

Doc. Scott
07-25-2009, 02:23 PM
Gomes fouls off a couple 1-2 pitches, takes a low curve, then waves at another one to end the inning.

3-1 Cubs after 3.5.

reds44
07-25-2009, 02:23 PM
So odds the Reds don't score, then the Cubs add on, and the Reds make a "rally" to get it close at the end, only to blow it when it matters again?

I don't think the Reds score more than 1 more run, if that, today.

Can Cueto get Ramirez out for the first time in the series?

VR
07-25-2009, 02:29 PM
Johnny Cueto has given up 60 baserunners and 30 runs in his last 30 innings.

It's 3-1 and the Reds are so boring that Thom and Chris are talking about the rooftop bleachers and buildings outside Wrigley. Can't say as I blame them.

Doc. Scott
07-25-2009, 02:41 PM
Again the Reds get their leadoff batter on and don't score.

3-1 Cubs after 4.5.

Doc. Scott

Phillips with a nice steal of second, giving Encarnacion a change for a two-out RBI.

Who are we kidding? At least Edwin hit it to the warning track, right?

This is the first time in my life that I'm happy that I have an appointment this afternoon and won't get to see the rest of this mess. It's come to that. No offense. No defense. No pitching. They deserve to be in last place behind the Pirates. They're earning it daily.

Huge play by EE to turn 2.

4-1 after 6.

Kc61
07-25-2009, 03:13 PM
Huge play by EE to turn 2.

Not exactly a web gem. EE fielded a routine grounder and threw it to second. But, hey, he didn't throw it away so give him some credit.

He got a bad hop, even the Cubs announcers said it was a nice play.

Since the All-Star break, the Reds have allowed their opponents to score in the first inning of every game except that first game.

They've been outscored 57-32 (and that includes the shutout win).

2-7 since the break. 7-14 in July. 7 games out of first place; 1.5 games away from the BASEMENT. The Pirates have shipped off almost all of their halfway decent players but they're still 5-3 since the Break.

It was fun while it lasted but I don't see any indicators to show that this trend will reverse. Here's to 2010.

Maybe Castellini should go after Jim Tracy in Colorado. He's done a GREAT job with them since taking over.

GAC

If you stand on your head the Reds are in 2nd place and only 1 1/2 back. :D

Thank God I really didn't miss anything today.
