Back to back doubles (haven't said that for a long time) net the Reds a run. EE up, BP on 2nd with none out.

edit...my bad, Gomes was up (he walks) EE now up with 2 on/ none out.

I missed the game last night and heard Thom and Cowboy talking about a botched double play last night. How was it botched last night?

VR

ESPN has a 'chance of scoring' percentage at the bottom of their gamecast.

I've noticed they've starting putting ":bowrofl:" on that line when the Reds are batting.

Homer Bailey
07-30-2009, 02:05 PM
And here's where a defender like EE murders your pitching staff. A failed double play and it leads to another run. Hitting .200 and can't play defense.

Homer Bailey
07-30-2009, 02:08 PM
Now a 3 run homer. Cueto is having enough trouble as is. If he can't get routine plays from his D, he is going to suffer big time.

The Reds are in full tank mode now. It's going to be a race to the finish with the Pirates to see who finishes last.
This is 2nd year in a row Cueto has died in the 2nd half of the season. I really wonder if he has the stamina to be a starting pitcher for a full season/. He is a small guy and pitching has not been kind to most small guys in MLB history.

Homer Bailey

If he can't get the Padres out hes in trouble.

It was a GABP home run. Any other park it stays in.

A lot of pitchers would look a lot worse if their defense constantly let them down.

Cueto has been baaaad lately but he doesn't deserve those earned runs.

Homer Bailey

Padres 3B helps his pitcher out and there are 2 down. What a coincidence.

Harang has also been bad and the defense behind him also let him down yesterday and nobody really said anything about it.

Perhaps Jocketty should have the 'Dusty' conversation with Dusty today.

Then, BCast can have it w/ Jocketty tomorrow.

Then, the fans can have it w/ BCast on Saturday.

We'll have this ship turned around by Monday.

By the way....after %*#&$-slapping the Reds in this series...it would be great for Bud Black to come out and say...

"“They’re not a good club,” “We're beating them like this. What does that make us?”

Last night, I was driving home in a thunderstorm and trying to listen on Marty on 700WLW through the static. Anyway, I think it was the top of the 9th (it was after Roenicke) and Marty and the other guy were talking about the Reds pitcher having a live arm and it just being a matter of time before he got his control straightened out. He said he had never been wild in the minors and should just trust his stuff.

I checked today and saw it was Fisher listed as pitching the 9th. Is Fisher's stuff that good? Is he a guy the Reds should be counting on to be a bulpen mainstay for a few years? Is Marty on drugs?

Fisher has a good fastball and slider but he keeps getting himself in trouble by walking hitters and thats what he did again today.

For those listening or not listening on the radio, Thom just invited all listeners to email the Reds booth if they had a boat that the Cowboy could borrow this weekend. So I emailed the following:

"Mr. Walt Jocketty has a boat for you! It's called the Titanic. However, he plans on shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic as it sinks."

He then said on the air, I have a great email that unfortunately I can not read it on the air. So I emailed again and asked if it was my email that he couldn't read on the air, and he confirmed that it was.

Nice to know that Thom is as fed up with this crap as we are.

The Pad's winning pitcher Wednesday night was in single-A at the beginning of the season. Look what he did to our lineup.

That is very telling as to the status of this current team.

I really hope this '09 squad hits the bottom as far as they can go, and never win another game. That's how frustrated I am.

But I don't think that would even wake this FO up.

I'm with you, GAC. But there will always be those apologists who will cite how we're missing big cogs (Bruce, Hernandez, Volquez, and even Owings and Hanigan--look at their stats. Only Hanigan and Volquez were making any difference and not much at that) right along with the FO. This team cannot hit and never will. Nothing like putting pressure on a pitching staff like that--especially a young one.
