ahead of Balentien? Most anyone is ahead of Taveras, but Gomes, Dickerson, and Balentien would be my choice.

Once again, the top three of the batting order went 0-10 and the Reds only got 8 hits, proof positive that the HR is a mighty equalizer. Oh, yeah. It should be speed and defense, right? Gotcha!

It's time to put Gonzo and his impatient ways out to pasture. He'll go 7-10 and then look horrible the next 7 games. What is wrong with that guy? It was a pleasure to not have Willy T in the lineup (what was wrong?).

Highly enjoyable game, but just remember, it was only the Nationals.

Say this for Arroyo: He knows how to follow a story with a show. On the same day the baseball world learned about how Arroyo relies daily on 10 to 12 products, some not approved by Major League Baseball, the Cincinnati veteran positively unenhanced the performance of the Washington Nationals, shutting them out on two hits in his best game of the season. Washington, a 7-0 loser at Great American Ball Park, fell for the third consecutive time on a night when Jonny Gomes paced the Cincinnati offense, swatting three home runs.

From the Washington Post's story about last night.

The Nats can hit. I think I read it's the first or second time this year they've been held to less than 4 hits. Very nice outing by Arroyo, who continues to show -- following last year -- that he can be a very good second half pitcher.
