Kinda reverse of what you would expect. Boxberger doesn't throw that hard, but he reaches 94 and is regarded as the "power" pitcher between the two, which usually instills confidence and a little cockiness. Of course, Leake knows how to be on the big stage.

Not really. When they guess fastball and get fastball, the hack looks good. But they're not squaring it up much at all. 1 EBH on a bad mistake so far, and no balls to the track.

I thought he got hit pretty hard. His luck ran out. He developed the splitter, but VR pointed out that he doesn't set up that pitch with strikes, so after awhile, they figure him out.

Well, we disagree. His ERA is now 7.53. He allowed three walks tonight in the 5 1/3 he pitched. It's a typical performance and has been all year. I will admit he might develop into a fairly decent pitcher by the time he's 30, but if waiting for that year after year and getting the same kind of performance would be torture. I really don't think he's going to ever reach his potential.

Hey, I thought Homer was toast last year, and early this year. I've seen some glimmers of hope since he came back up.....and still think he has a very good shot to be a quality ML pitcher. Considering he's got a dinosaur for a pitching coach, and non existent scouting intelliegence provided, he shouldn't be given up on just yet.

I agree on both counts. I think Kelch does a great job, and has a really smooth voice. The Reds need to lock him up before he gets away.

As for Votto, I LOVED the stirrups! I hope he keeps them, and I hope other players follow suit. Add to that the fact that he is clean-shaven, and he looks exactly what my childhood vision of a Cincinnati Red looks like.
