Scott Rolen 3b

Justin Lehr p

vs. Dave Bush (3-4, 5.67).

Apparently Nix's performance of late was too poor to warrant his inclusion in the lineup. (Or he is hurt but the Reds have been too healthy for that to be the case.)

I did some quick research and couldn't find anyone with those type of numbers in the minors who then had a decent offensive career in the majors. But it was very quick and there easily could be someone out there. But it would be very rare.

Put it this way, even Bartlett in Tampa had an OPS 50 points higher in the minors.

This week's averages (including today's game so far...):

6 Runs/Game, 11 Hits/Game, Record: Looking like it'll be 4-0.

By the way simple pleasures on GameCast, following along batter by batter, than catching up on the current guy and realizing that your pitcher struck out Prince Fielder just a split second before it appears on the play by play.

It went something like...Okay 1st pitch strike, 2nd pitch fouled, 3rd pitch ball, fourth pitch ball, fifth pitch strike, but wait a minute that means he struck him out. Nice!

The tough question on Burton is going to be whether to keep him at what he'll cost. If he can pitch like this, or as well as his best last year, then he's probably worth offering arb. I've no doubt he'll pitch well again; the issue's going to be the cost. We can hope he pitches so well the rest of the way that the decision's easy. We could have some real power arms next year in Coco, Masset, Fisher, and Burton. Add Rhodes, Danny, and one other and that part of the team would be strong and essentially in place.
