Dusty needs toys. Taveras, McDonald, Patterson, etc. Nevermind they can't hit, they've got speed and offense doesn't matter. Bunt someone to move the runner over so a .196 hitter can drive him in. Right.

Darnell shouldn't even smell the big leagues and yet he gets a start. Just like on opening day. It's hopeless, guys. I want to cry.

I recommend all double plays that end with the firstbaseman making the second out be known as "yessirees."

Oh that's right. I forgot about that and with the way the analysts and all those other 'baseball' people have talked about him this year, you would think he has a lot more. Joey has more than Manny and he missed how many games himself earlier this year?! LOL  :beerme: :p:

Hmm, Kershaw may have a gazillion strikeouts by the end of his pitching line today but if Bronson keeps matching him by getting the Dodgers out, then it won't matter in the end. I hope that actually happens, LOL ;)

This is why I'm surprised nobody really pushed the Reds hard to trade Arroyo to them. He's got a well-established track record as a second-half pitcher.

Not routine plays but Janish needs to make them. 2-2 games as Kershaw singles past Janish.

Kc61
08-30-2009, 02:20 PM
Janish misses two grounders up the middle and the Dodgers tie the game. First one was a very tough play, he dove and it went off his glove. Second one looked playable, but it may have taken a bad hop.

Arroyo at 94 pitches, so definitely a possibility if he stays out of trouble.

HeatherC1212

If you make a 90 degree angle with a line going parallel to the mound and a perpendicular one to the plate, left handed pitchers get a 45 degree angle on pickoffs. He definitely exceeded that 45 degrees. David Price, when he was at Vanderbilt, was one of the best I've seen at that.

KoryMac5
08-30-2009, 03:09 PM
Pierre singles men on 1st and 2nd. Rhodes looks to be coming into the game.

HeatherC1212
08-30-2009, 03:10 PM
Too bad Bronson couldn't get a little further into the game but at least it's only a little less than two innings that the bullpen has to cover today.

KoryMac5
08-30-2009, 03:10 PM
Another good outing by Bronson Arroyo, dueled Kershaw every inning.

Hey, it's Flat Breezy! Sherrill used to be with the Orioles and I've always liked him. Doesn't mean I don't want the Reds to beat him up right now or anything though, LOL

I love how baseball guys still talk about that Bedard trade and how good it was for the Orioles. :D

Definition of Flat Breezy:

Flat brimmed fitted hat like the boyz rock in the hood. Usually new era, with a sticker on it.
Word son, toss me that flat breezy for me dome and we will hit the club

A flat brimmed piece of headwear in which bisco 'kidz' wear to disco biscuit shows, or any other show in 'the scene'

They are often LRG or New Era brand.

"Yo brah, how many flat breezys are u bringing to Camp Bisco?"

"was your flat breezy cocked at the proper 45?"

"Brah, i just ordered the hettiest flat brim ever for Biscuits in Boston."

HeatherC1212

Lately, he's been horrible. I guess the fact that it wasn't a lead and wasn't the 8th inning means he didn't pitch badly -- or that giving up hit after hit (and walk after walk) in his perfomances, barely eeking out the save doesn't mean anything. He's obviously tired or just is having an off period. Either way, he's not been pitching well.

Cordero has been way, way overused lately. Fifth game in six days. Many of them with high pitch counts. IMO he shouldn't have been used today. And with a doubleheader tomorrow.

Today was unfortunate because they had to use Massett and Burton for multiple innings. I would have used Herrera or Fisher that last inning, but with Ramirez coming up Dusty went for Coco. I disagree with that move.

The Reds had better watch this situation. They traded Weathers and Roenicke and are now playing a lot of extra inning games. Double header tomorrow. I remember when Coffey was used heavily by Narron and it took him a long time to recover.

Coco hasn't been good lately, but to me he looks like a tired and overworked pitcher.

I said it before and I feel like I need to say it again: I give the Reds a lot of credit for playing the Dodgers tough all weekend. Aside from one or two horrible innings yesterday, the Reds gave them a big battle in this series and that's not too bad at all. I'd much rather have the win but it's a small victory for this team to have given the Dodgers a hard time in this series.

It was a good weekend of baseball with Cincy being in the two bookend games and in the middle game until the middle. Not bad, but not good enough. The Reds scored 10 runs total in the series. When your lineup starts with .212 and follows with .228 (that's ..255 and .299 for you OBP fanatics), you're two outs before you can say anything. The middle is better at .312, .264, .273, and .281, but you end with .203 and .214. If Votto gets on, they you've got a chance or if you begin a inning with Votto and have to get through Phillips, Rolen, and Gomes, you might produce a run. Otherwise, you're screwed unless someone hits a HR. Tough stuff.

The Reds, in order to win more games, must find a leadoff hitter, a hitting shortstop, and a power hitting outfielder. If not, this is your Cincinnati Reds for 2010.
