Local disinterest in Reds on the last day of August + poor drawing power of Pirates + economy sucks too much to risk job by blowing off to watch baseball on Monday afternoon + stubborn decision by FO to schedule this as day/night DH in order to get 2 separate gates + a game tonight anyway = probably a historically small gate.
This business decision will probably backfire on the Reds, as they most probably will not cover their overhead for playing a game at GABP, at least for this first game.

I'll agree with you. 2 hits over 6 innings ain't too bad. It would have been better if those hits didn't create runs, though.

I can actually say that this game was one of the more entertaining games I've attended at GABP. Sure, the attendance was LOW, real LOW (maybe a 100 fans total) - but the fans, like me, wanted to be there. There was only one concession stand open at the view level and a couple of ushers - the gift shop on that level was closed. No vendors (or at least I didn't see any - anywhere in the ballpark). I moved around in the view level because my season ticket (last seat, last row, 1st base side) was cold with the wind howling. But before I moved, in at my perch I could hear either Pittsburgh fans or the Pirates themselves giving the rookie pitcher encouragement and banter.
