Good four game sweep for the Reds. With a lengthy road trip coming up I hope the Reds can continue there winning ways. I would imagine over the next few games we will begin to see if Drew Stubbs is the real deal. It's easy to put up numbers at GABP, can he do it on the road.

Willy Taveras begs to differ.;)The Reds are 2nd to last in RS, so I'd say the whole team begs to differ. Seriously, the HRs have not been cheapy GAB fence scrapers or plunking them into the RF bullpen like Manny and Furcal did Saturday.

Most enjoyable game thread in ages. Even old sarcastic me didn't get negative or sarcastic. In fact, these last 11 games have been wonderful. Getting rid of the dead weight really helped t his club. No more Hairstons and no more Taverases (at least for now) and the kids have made a difference.

While obviously it's great to see a 4 game sweep, lets keep this in perspective....IT'S THE MORE MISERABLE THEN US PIRATES! :D

And while I've seen some positives over these last few weeks..... solid performances by Bailey, guys like Janish and Stubbs, and overall better play by this team, here is what concerns me.....

This FO, and manager, will use these "positive" signs as an excuse to say we're heading in the right direction for next season, no big shake-ups needed, or as Dusty put it... "We're close".

Since the beginning of August, this team is 6-11 vs teams with above .500 records.

And going into this Pirate series we were 5-5 against sub .500 teams. So this sweep takes that to a 9-5 record.

But over the next 17 days, 14 of our 17 games are against teams with above .500 records. Lets see how they fare.

But this current winning kinds worries me to a degree. ;)

Same here. And what's to stop the FO from bringing us Pattersron, Taveras, and Hairston type players again? I have a feeling Teh Dusty will still be pressuring for those type of players. Speed, Dude.

We watched them take a career year that a player could never ever hope to duplicate and parlay it into a 2 year deal. Walt's too smart for that. That had to be Dusty all the way.

I think the FO signaled a change in culture with the trade of EE for Scott Rolen. I think some of the things that have worried us in the past will no longer turn out to be problems.

Every season has ebbs and flows.

The 2009 season is winding down and I'm already dreading the cold gray days of winter without baseball.
