He has his moments both good and bad. Certain mannerisms get me annoyed but overall I think he does his job pretty well.

i hate McAlister's, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE WINNING crap, especially when the Reds and/or the Bengals are hopeless out of it. He sounds like a sucker holding onto false hope for no aparent reason.

I think he loves to hear himself too much. His intros to the show are ponderous. That notwithstanding, he is about the only local we hear anymore. Whoever owns the radio stations now gets an "F-". (On the weekend, I think Doc gets an "A". His Baseball cred' is rock solid; player, coach, Minor League big shot, Asst. GM........

The thing that I do not like about Lance McAlister is, and this goes for all the Cincy talk show guys except Doc Rodgers, and that is he is way too condescending.

Lance all the time asks for different opinions and then we you give him one, he ridicules you for disagreeing with him.

The reason he is successful is he remembers the two basic rules of Cincinnati Sports Talk. 1. You do not say anything bad about Pete Rose. 2. You don't say anything good about Mike Brown, Dusty Baker or Marvin Lewis.

All I really have to say is, I miss the two angry guys. That was my favorite talk show by far. Lance is decent, but not great.

I like him, but he is admittedly a Homer/Schill

I miss Andy Furman and P-Doc on Sports Talk and Tracy Jones on Extra Innings

Their respective shows have been lame ever since they left

I think he is terrible. He makes all kinds of excuses for the Reds, but then tries to be hard on the Bengals. Both have been bad and neither deserve excuses. All 1530 does is hire terrible radio people. I wish Cincinnati could have some good sports talk radio talent like we have good announcers on the radio.

We should start a movement to protest the lack of LOCAL commentary. The National shows don't even recognize Cincinnati as a Sports town. We have a College Football team (Bearcats), a Basketball team (X), that are due some serious talk, not to mention a MLB team on the rise.

I like Lance's show. I enjoyed him when he was on Homer and now WLW. He has great passion for what he does and great passion for the local teams. I also enjoy how he brings themes and sports together. Like when he took the body and which Cincinnati athlete had best foot, legs, arm, hands, etc. I find those kind of shows very interesting.

I really like Lance, there's not a better prepared sportstalk host...except when it comes to the topics of UK basketball or OSU football talk (my other loves besides my wife and son). I feel his love/fandom of UC (not that there's anything wrong with that Bearcat fans) kinda gives him a jaded view IMO when UK or OSU are mentioned on his show. My buddies and I seem to notice a little bit of a change in his tone when these topics are brought up. I think he forgets - or maybe resents - the fact that there are nearly as many fans of these 2 programs in Cincinnati as there are UC and XU. Sometimes I just gotta turn the dial when UK and OSU are discussed cause this usually ends up making my blood boil.

I also agree with a previous poster that mentioned he can be condescending or ridiculing to those who don't agree with him...although he insists that he loves it when others disagree and take the time to call in to his show.

I gotta say...I really enjoy Mo Egger on the radio. Maybe it's because we're close in age, but I really enjoy what he has to say and how he says it. We seem to have a very similar sense of humor. I miss him having his own show in the mornings. Not really a fan of Nick Brunker, but he's OK in a pinch.

Hugely annoying, though I've heard he isn't quite as bad now as he used to be... I haven't listened to him in ages. I do know he was, at least at one time, at the forefront of the run-Dunn-out-with-pitchforks crowd, which is fine if you had that opinion (not that it has to be rehashed there), but it's pretty ridiculous to have that opinion while simultaneously telling us how awesome a Reds team with "25 Freels" would be. And THAT'S why national media thinks Cincy fans are tards that can't get over Rose.

We should start a movement to protest the lack of LOCAL commentary. The National shows don't even recognize Cincinnati as a Sports town If Cincy had good pro teams, they would mention them. But either the Reds or Bengals are, therefore they don't deserve national air play. Both teams are a national joke. Having a local homer hack as a sports talk host doesn't help matters.

What he said. I've never met a sports personality that Cincy fans generally like. I think he's been the best in a while. . . which doesn't say much.

I like Lance a lot. He is very passionate about local teams becuase he is such a fan. Is he a goober at times? Yes. But i would rather listen to him than than ******bag Jim Rome.

I also think Mo Egger is pretty good too. Sort of a nice contrast to Lance. A little cynical .

You're right on the pro side. Yet many college teams get constant press without a competitive pro team in town. Yet UC's up and coming Football program and X's rock-solid B-Ball are a big, "oh yeah" afterthought nationally, and apparently with certain local fans as well..

When those team actually do something noteworthy people will take notice

Being good in the regular season is one thing, winning a national title is something else

Lance lost his educated listeners several years ago when he stopped being objective and climbed in bed with the UC program. The joke is that the two people who make him achieve a climax are both named Kelly. His defense of Mick Cronin with his standard "if you don't see that Mick is the perfect coach for UC...you just don't understand college basketball" line is patronizing. He calls Chris Henry a "punk thug" and then has him and his fiance on to discuss wedding plans. He crushes coaches for leaving programs mid-contract but refuses to bash his buddy Thad Matta when he did it. Being close to Dave Lapham and Chick Ludwig became more important to Lance than did retaining his objectivity. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't critique John Thornton's play because JT was a "friend". His ill-fated show with Reds GM Dan O'Brien was a disaster, and he blamed DOB's non answers on the callers for not thinking out good enough questions. You will notice that when he was on HOMER he never got feature player or coaches for interviews outside of college programs. They don't trust him as he will hump their leg one minute and then throw them under the bus the next.

He still has his good days, but not nearly as many as he once did before he became "Clearchannel-ized".

i like lance, but he isn't as good as the 2 angry guys, daugherty, cutler or furman. I like guys that help you think.
