because dusty doesn't want to win. with all the outfielders we have up right now mcdonald shouldn't start period.

Wow, I remember when Sanchez threw a no hitter for the Marlins not that long ago. It's kind of sad how far he's fallen after having shoulder issues.

Wow, Maloney has a tough assignment tonight with the high powered Marlins in town but so far he looks up to the challenge. Keep it up Matt! :)

Aaron Harang is in the booth with Chris and George talking about the golf cart Aaron bought for the for the clubhouse staff. That's just awesome that he did that for them. He was kind of humble about it too as only Harang can be. :D

Still 3-0 Reds after 2.5 innings.

It seems like Maloney is allowing a few baserunners every inning, but he keeps on battling. A couple of guys have taken him deep into the count and once he throws ball three he keeps pounding the strike zone making them put it in play or sit down. He's changing speeds effectively, going anywhere from 66 to 86 and keeping most of the hitters off balance. Unfortunately he's at 60 pitches after 3 innings...at that rate he'll be lucky to get out of the 5th inning.

A very Bobby Livingston-esque start.

Sanchez was at 55 pitches at the end of the last inning so he won't last long either. This will probably be a bullpen game like last night. Hopefully the end result is the same too (i.e. a Reds win). :D

Edited to Add: Sanchez is at 75 pitches through three innings. With him recovering from shoulder issues, he will more than likely be gone in another inning or two.

HeatherC1212

This is the same thing that happened last night too. The first four and a half innings took like TWO HOURS to get through but the last few innings went by much faster. I'm glad I'm watching this one from the comfort of my home instead of freezing in my seat because I forgot my jacket (which I did last night, LOL).

HeatherC1212

another 19 pitch inning for Maloney...he's at 79 now.

After 3 and a half innings still Reds 3 - Fish 0

And we've now let Sanchez get confident and we'll probably lose this game unless we can make one run stand up again for four more innings.

Ramon Ramirez pitching now for the Reds.

09-17-2009, 09:03 PM
Sanchez at 98 pitches, Maloney at 96.

Maloney done...Ramirez in for the 6th.

HeatherC1212

I know lots of people here would like to see Brandon moved to short...but I think you don't mess with a good thing. He's fantastic at second. Great snag and quick throw to double off Coghlan to end the inning.

Sutton ph'ing for Rhodes....shows his warning track power...just a loud out though.

_Sir_Charles_
09-17-2009, 09:26 PM
I knew it when I saw the lineup earlier today that McDonald would have a solid game. Just to drive RZ'ers nuts. :O)

2 for 3 now with a dinger, a single, a walk, a stolen base and a nice sliding snag in center.

Joey starting to look Vottoesque again. Nice patience at the dish to draw the free pass. Another pitching change. Ah heck, just swap out pitchers after EVERY throw. :O)

I agree. He looked great at the game last night with two walks and two hits (one of which was an infield hit that he got by hauling tush to first). I thought the Astros were afraid of him because they didn't throw him many strikes the whole night, LOL

_Sir_Charles_
09-17-2009, 09:37 PM
Just looked up Coghlan...he's hitting .352 in about 250 ab's since the ASB (prior to tonights 4 for 4). Wow. Only Hanley Ramirez, Nyjer Morgan & Matt Holliday are hitting better since the ASB (those with a starters amount of AB's). Impressive.

Masset looked filthy last night and he's doing it again tonight.

Hey Heather, did you get some good pic's of Hal's ceremony before the game last night? And if so, could you post them anywhere? I missed the beginning of last nights game. Only caught the 3rd inning on or so.

~edit~ Nevermind. I just now saw your post in the Hal thread on the ORG. I'll keep my eyes open for them. And thanks ahead of time.

I do have some pictures and I hope to get some posted this weekend. I haven't had enough time to go through them all yet and I won't be home tomorrow night to do it either. My goal is to get some posted here on Saturday afternoon. :)

Cordero in. How many nights straight is this? 4 or 5?

Four nights straight.

HeatherC1212
09-17-2009, 10:01 PM
He hasn't used many pitches for any of the previous saves though so I think it's all right, especially since he all ready has two outs. :D

And what's wrong with my tush pictures?! I guess only I appreciate the really good things about baseball. ;)

Is there anyway we can just ignore that Rockies series? Take that eyesore out and the Reds would have won 17 out of 21 games. Of course it's actually 17-8 not 17-4, but can't we just blame it on the altitude and just not count that 4 game sweep? :O)

Seriously though, this team is playing VERY well lately. Fun to watch. Let's keep it rollin' boys!

Cordero us throwing all his pitches for strikes and he's got good movement on his FB. It's just nicking the black on the plate
