List of players that will have most logical shot at making the 25:

Balentien
Bruce
Stubbs
Gomes (will the resign him)
Dickerson
Fransisco (will they send him back to AAA)

Those who are out:

Nix
Taveras
McDonald

So, how many OF's do the Reds carry next year and what will be their Opening Day OF(Note: Will will be facing a righty on OD in either Carpenter or Wainwight)

I'm going that they will carry 5 (all but Fransisco) with an OD OF of Dickerson LF Stubbs CF Bruce RF

OD lineup:

Dickerson LF
Stubbs CF
Votto 1b
Phillips 2b
Rolen 3b
Bruce RF
Hanigan C
Janish SS(pending no offseason acquisition at the posistion)

With a bench of Sutton UTL, Gomes OF, Balentien OF, Hernandez C(resigned), Rosales UTL

Even though I am going beyond the scope of my own thread, looking at that bench and the lineup, the two main priorities in the offseason should SS and a left handed hitter for off the bench. I would say Fransisco for the lefty bat, but I'd rather him getting regular AB's at AAA.

MY 2010 Outfield would be:

Bruce RF, Stubbs CF, Dickerson/Gomes Platoon LF, Balentien on the bench

The real question is.......what will Dusty's 2010 Outfield look like ?

And, I am terrified that it will include Willy T.

I have been thinking along the same lines as you with one exception. "If" he has a good ST, I would be tempted to use the platoon in LF of Cisco/Gomes.
Cisco along with Votto and a hopefully back on track Bruce could give the reds 3 Lefties with pop.
I like CD but Cisco is really impressing me.

Hopefully Bruce nails down RF. He needs to be Jay Bruce instead of imitating Dunn. CF is between Stubbs and Dickerson. LF I'm thinking a Gomes/Dorn platoon. Francisco doesn't fit with his 1st yr. in LF, and I think his bat needs more maturation, or he'll just be another Wily Mo, (no hit the curve). Dorn however, is more than ready to hit MLB (RH pitching at least), and wouldn't be too adventurous in the field.

Looking at RedLakerFan's post, is it a done deal that Hardy is the player to be named in the Weathers trade?

No way. Thatd be too good to be true.

He'd put up good numbers in our park. He can hit. We won't get Hardy.

I'd go:

LF: Dickerson/Balentien
CF: Stubbs
RF: Bruce

Let Willy T be the 4th OF
let Gomes walk he won't repeat this year again
Let Nix walk

Dickerson
Stubbs
Gomes
Bruce
Balentien

Stubbs in CF, Dickerson can play any of the three, Gomes and Balentien can play either corner, Bruce in RF (if he starts hitting the ball).

Gomes/Nix in LF. I think they've earned the PT with their combined production. Stubbs in CF, Bruce in RF. Dickerson, Balentien, and PTBD as backups.

JJ Hardy's numbers are no where near what they were. I still can't believe no one really wants to give Janish any respect, he hasn't even been here 150 games yet.

Because you don't hit .240 at AA and AAA and do any better in the majors. Anything he does defensively is going to be negated by his bat. He won't even be a .250 hitter unless its a career year not to mention he just turned 27 yesterday. He can be a backup infielder for us, but if he is anything more we are in trouble. Unless of course our lineup is about the same as the red sox so we can afford to have a SS that can't hit.
