Here are the line-ups for today's game
NO. ST. LOUIS CINCINNATI
1. S. Schumaker, 2B D. Stubbs, CF
2. C. Rasmus, CF D. Sutton, SS
3. A. Pujols, 1B J. Votto, 1B
4. M. Holliday, LF B. Phillips, 2B
5. R. Ankiel, RF S. Rolen, 3B
6. T. Glaus, 3B J. Bruce, RF
7. Y. Molina, C J. Gomes, LF
8. B. Ryan, SS C. Miller, C
9. C. Carpenter, P K. Wells, P

BTW the Accuscore projection on ESPN.com's game preview, only gives the Reds a 32% shot today. Lord knows we have struggled with Carpenter.

I hope the clubhouse boys properly dirtied up the balls today ;)

The Drew Attack is back.

Wells goes full to the first two hitters, inducing Schumaker to ground to second and then striking out Rasmus swinging.

Colby Rasmus is struggling with the same problems Bruce dealt with earlier this season. Just like Bruce he got off to a real hot start and has really cooled off since the league got the book on him.

Edd Roush

Wells throws 10 pitches to Pujols and goes full with him before inducing another groundout, this time to Sutton at short.

0-0 mid first

Edd Roush

Stubbs grounds out to third to start off the bottom of the first for the Reds.

Howdy folks. Just checking in before I head to lunch and I'm glad Wells got through the first inning. Hopefully when I get back to my desk with my lunch the Reds are up by a run or two and Carpenter has thrown about 30 pitches, LOL ;) :D

Votto grounds out to first to end the inning.

0-0 after 1

Oh for Pete's sake... why?

Oh for Pete's sake... why?
They were noting how Wells' had 'poor body language' with the Cardinals and that Dave Duncan did all he could but Wells didn't want to be better.

And I think they realized they were piling it on because they suddenly came out with "He has a great arm though, but..."

Grand Slam Chris Carpenter. Yesh.

The game is so out of hand they have decided to go with a three man umpiring crew.

Actually the HP ump got hurt on foul ball and had to leave the game.

Inning finally over. 5-0 Cards. That was Carpenter's first career home run. Not to pile on now. :)

Wells out and Owings enters the game after the first two Cards get on base in the 3rd. At least the Reds get another bat out of this change.

The Reds need to retaliate if it looked at all intentional. And it needs to be Carpenter or Pujols going down.

Bummer for Joey. It sounds like they're hitting not too badly off Carpenter but they're just not getting the runs in. Hopefully they can break through at some point.

Corky may handle the staff well, but his bat is simply too anemic for the majors.

Nice AB by Bruce...ten pitches and repeated fouls vs. Carpenter. Even though it was an error, Jay is showing some good signs there.

Miller bounces out to 3rd. Nothing...

Carpenter is at 79 pitches after 4 innings. At that rate, they are likely to pull him after one or two more innings.

Marty: "The Cardinals are trying to sign Holliday this off season. But Holliday is represented by the Anti-christ"

He may be older & grumpier...but Marty's still funny as hell sometimes. :O)

That comment just made me laugh out loud at work, LOL  It's true though. Bora$ is so horrible to deal with that I don't know why small market teams draft players represented by him.

Meh, I guess the Reds need to get the bad game out of their system so they can sweep the Pirates this weekend. ;)

And I guess the quest is now for 79 wins instead of 80. Stupid Cards. :(

This is a good old fashioned butt whoopin' today. 12-0 Cards in the 6th.

HeatherC1212

At least this butt whooping gives the starters a bit of a rest and the backups a chance to play before heading into the last series of the year. ;)

My daughter and I went to the game with my pastor, and even with him there, the Reds didn't have a prayer. It really was a laugher and I've been to games we got a real shellacking and I felt worse, but this one was just funny. I mean, Carpenter hit that grand slam on the his first pitch and it just became bizarre. Well, lets smack the Pirates around a bit and finish on a better note.

So this was Carpenter's 1st home run AND he doubled his career RBI total. Wow, just wow. It was that sort of game.
