WLW just said Matt Maloney's pitching tonight. That's not right, is it? I thought they shut him down for the year because of the blister.

~edit~ Must've just been somebody misspeaking. It's still Lehr.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:14 PM
Well, that didn't take long. 5 pitch walk to McCutchen. Over 250 innings for Lehr this year so far.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:14 PM
Easy steal of 2nd.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:16 PM
Another 5 pitch walk. First 2 on.

Lehr thought he was done for the season after that last outing. He's mentally had to gear it back up again and I don't think his body's cooperating. He looks tired.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:18 PM
Hard liner to Bruce. 1 down, everybody stays put.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:23 PM
Hard liner right at Joey. DP. YESSIRREE!

Somebody's smiling down on Justin that inning.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:26 PM
1 pitch, 1 out. PO to right.

It was a meatball right down the middle of the plate. I'm fine with Drew swinging at that, first pitch or not.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:30 PM
Janish grounded out...and Votto...yeah, he got a hit. What did you expect? He's Joey Freaking Votto. :O)

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:34 PM
Phillps K's on a pitch in the dirt. 0-0 after 1.

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? *crickets*

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:39 PM
Okay, I'm just going to post notable stuff. I've got a juicy medium rare T-Bone in front of me...my attention is just "slightly" split. :O)

Nice interview from Marty with Hal. Great stories.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:46 PM
Man, I actually got teary eyed at that interview. It just won't feel right without Hal covering the Reds. *sigh*

Agreed. I will miss Hal very much next year.

Jay works yet another walk. It's like Day and Night with him since he's come back. He looks great at the dish.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:55 PM
Tatum scorches one, just right at short. 0-0 after 2.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:57 PM
McCutchen, McCutchen & LaRoach due up.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:58 PM
Lehr walks the pitcher.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 07:59 PM
Liner off the wall for McCutchen. Double. 2nd & 3rd, no outs.

We'll be fine though. No more McCutchens to face.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:00 PM
2-0 Pirates. LaRoach tries to stretch it to a double, nailed by Wlad.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:04 PM
2 flyouts 2 center and the Pirates 3rd is over. 2-0 Buccos

For those who missed it, Arthur Rhodes has a broken toe which is why he hasn't been pitching. He's been assigned the duty of answering the bullpen phone.

_Sir_Charles_

:jump: Woohoo! Lehr with a leadoff grand slam! 4-2 Reds!

Just seeing if anybody's reading or not. :O)

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:09 PM
Stubbs with a 2-bagger down the line. 1 down (Lehr didn't actually hit a dinger...*shock*)

:jump: Woohoo! Lehr with a leadoff grand slam! 4-2 Reds!

A lead-off grand slam would be mighty impressive.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:13 PM
Reds fail to capitalize on Stubbs' double. 2-0 Pirates after 3.

_Sir_Charles_

Coombs could do it.

One-handed.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:16 PM
Dinger.

3-0.

Milledge.

Lehr.

Tired.

Brandon Phillips defense makes me laugh out loud sometimes its so good.

_Sir_Charles_

Brandon Phillips defense makes me laugh out loud sometimes its so good.

Yep. That's why I quickly replied "no" to the proposed trade with the Braves today. I don't think fans realize how much we'd miss that glove.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:22 PM
Lehr: 4 ip, 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 bb, 3 k's

Heads back to the dugout so the trainer can re-apply the crazy glue and duct tape that's holding his arm to his shoulder.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:25 PM
4 pitch walk to Rolen. 1 down, Bruce up.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:28 PM
How did that NOT go out?!? I thought that was gone for sure. Moss pulls it in at the wall.

I can't remember the last time I saw Bruce swing at a pitch OUT of the zone. Really nice to see.

On a warm night, that ball is gone. GameDay shows the current temp at 55 degrees in Cincinnati.

Wlad K's to end the inning. 3-0 Pirates after 4.

Oh yeah. I forgot.

You've got to remember, it was freaking 91 outside here today. *sigh*

_Sir_Charles_

back to back K's brings Justin's total to 5.

pop out to stubbs and it's a 1-2-3 for Bronson....I mean Justin. :O)

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:40 PM
Hmmmmm... 6-0 White Sox over the Tigers and Twins up 5-0 over Royals. 1 game lead with 2 games left?

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:40 PM
1-2-3 for McCutchen.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:47 PM
KKKKKK

102 pitches

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:51 PM
9 straight sat down by Lehr. Hell, let 'em throw the complete game. :O) J/K

Should be his last inning. As far as I'm concerned he's earned a legit shot at the 5th starters spot. I know his ERA is garbage, but this guy has given us EVERYTHING he's got and regardless of HOW he does it...all he's done this year is win.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 08:59 PM
Janish led off with a double, his 21st of the year. Votto lined out to left (great snag, robbed Joey of a double) & Brandon struck out. It's up to Scott.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:00 PM
Ground out to 2nd. 3-0 Bucs it remains.

I know most people here dislike Janish's bat, but for half a season (which is what he's basically played, 250 ab's)...21 doubles is nothing to sneeze at.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:03 PM
Viola in for the 7th.

Lehr clearly didn't have much in the tank tonight, but 6 innings with only 3 runs...scrappy.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:07 PM
1 pitch ground out, and back to back K's for Pedro. Nice.

I got curious, so I looked. This year, between the minors & bigs...Lehr is 18-5. ERA, SchmERA. Get me the W.

Tony Cloninger
10-02-2009, 09:07 PM
I like Viola. He looks and throws like Tom Hall used to.

Too bad that Brandon will not get his 100 RBI's...unless he goes off in next 2 days.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:10 PM
Bruce K's. But he only swung at strikes. I can live the the K as long as he's not chasing bad balls. And he's not.

Wlad...GONE! :jump: Monster shot! 3-1

Halfway up the UPPER deck. Wow.

_Sir_Charles_

Winner: Nix. Walk.

10-02-2009, 09:16 PM
Francisco sighting.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:19 PM
Juan popped out. Stubbs K's. 3-1 Pirates after 7.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:20 PM
Cards 5 / Brewers 0

If we can come back in this one, we're tied for 3rd. Yeah, I know....IF.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:21 PM
Burton pitching, Corky catching

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:24 PM
Fly out & punch out. 2 down. Jared looking sharp.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:26 PM
Man, Bruce has got a CANNON! LaRoche with a shot off the wall, see ya later! Nailed trying for 2. Again. Wlad got him earlier doing the same thing.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:30 PM
467 feet. Wlad's shot estimation. Mercy.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:33 PM
Reds go down 1-2-3 in the 8th. Phillips is really pressing right now. I think he REAAAAAALLY wants that 100 RBI mark. 0-4 tonight with 3 K's.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:34 PM
At some point in time, you've got to ask yourself...who the heck is this Sir Charles guy talking to?

Nobody knows. One of life's great mysteries.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:35 PM
Masset in for the 9th. 1 pitch, 1 out.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:37 PM
Doumit strikesout looking.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:38 PM
Milledge deep flyout to Wlad to end the inning. How good has Masset been lately? Rock solid.

Rally Caps!

*chirp* Man, somebody needs to kill the crickets in this place.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:39 PM
Rolen, Bruce, Balentein & a ph'er due up. Capps in.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:41 PM
Short popper to first. 1 down.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:43 PM
Jay with a rocket off the base of the wall. Oppo-style. Me likey. Double, without an arm like Jay's to gun him down.

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:43 PM
Barker ph'ing in the ODC

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:47 PM
Wlad K's.

Barker up

_Sir_Charles_
10-02-2009, 09:49 PM
Grounder to short to end it. 3-1 Pirates.

No winning home record this season.

We'll get 'em next time.

I went to the game downtown tonight and it was a good time even though the Reds couldn't pull off the win. Balentein's HR was a BOMB and the outfielders didn't even move when it went into the air. Guys made some good contact on the balls tonight but they just died midair. Jay hit one that we thought for sure was out of the park and instead it was caught at the wall. A few other guys hit the ball well but just missed getting a hit or HR (Drew and Justin Lehr both hit rockets that we caught at the wall). Joey missed out on a double in his third at bat when Milledge had to have strained his groin running and stretching out to catch it in left. He was moving around and looking gimpy for the rest of that inning, LOL  Justin settled down to pitch pretty decently after looking VERY rough in the early innings. I give him props for keeping it close and only giving up the three runs. The relievers did a nice job tonight (Burton looked really good which is nice to see since I'd like to see him be part of the bullpen next year) and I'm glad none of them threw a lot of pitches so they didn't get used up too much. It was freaking FREEZING in the ballpark (we were up in the View level in the third row) so I'm glad I remembered to bring my jacket this time! We're probably going to the game again tomorrow night (and hitting the HOF for the first time all season) and we have great seats for the season finale on Sunday afternoon. I hope I get to see wins in both those games and I'm definitely looking forward to the Sunday afternoon game since it shouldn't be in the 50s temperature wise like tonight, LOL

Hope you guys behaved in the game thread tonight! ;)

Heather, you know you can sit pretty much wherever you want, right? Just last week on a Friday night, me and a buddy bought $5 bleacher seat tickets and proceeded to sit down along the 3rd base line in the 100 level seats. Since there's about 46 people at the game, the ushers don't even bother checking anybody's tickets.

Of course, I'm not sure it'll be any warmer down there, but you will be closer to the action!

Yeah, I know we could have moved but we were having fun with the people around us so we just stayed put last night. :) We have seats in the sections behind the Reds dugout tonight and tomorrow night so we'll be good for the rest of the weekend. We would have moved last night but we were right behind home plate so we could see the game just fine (and my mom didn't feel like moving either, LOL). I honestly don't know if it would have been warmer down there or not because the wind was whipping through everywhere, LOL

I'll do my best with the mojo (I want that high note too!) and I will definitely do my best to have fun too. I will also be bringing a warmer jacket with me tonight because the sweatshirt I took last night didn't do a very good job, LOL
