Does anyone remember back in 1998 when Larry Flynt asked Marge Schott if she would sell the franchise to him? Stereotypes about the man aside, he has MONEY and was willing to use it.

Does anyone remember the reason why he didn't purchase the Reds?

I used to work hoot-owl shift at a local radio station that broadcasts ESPN radio all night and I remember ESPN doing an interview with Flynt and he said that it was not a publicity stunt that he wanted to buy the Reds and turn their franchise around. He is a legit Reds fan and cares about the success of the organization.

Now before I make my next comment let me say that I am hard line conservative of the Christian faith and a man of morals, but don't tell he wasn't allowed to buy the club simply because he worked in porn? If thats so then Selig has been running MLB like Communist Russia. I remember Selig telling him that there was no way he would be approved to buy the Reds...

My point of this post is does anyone remember why the sale didn't go through? And if it was because of Selig's comments again WHY?

Frankly I don't give a frog's fat @$$ (yes I'm of the Christian faith but I'm not perfect) what Flynt's industry is, bottom line is he has MONEY! Wish someone could persaude him to buy the Reds. He has what it takes to turn this club around.

I really doubt Bud Selig and the MLB owners would have approved that sale.

What would have been their reasons?

Probably the same as Rush Limbaugh with the NFL.
I just want the Reds to win, I don't care of Bin Laden owns them.

A lot like the situation is for Limbaugh, it's an exclusive boys club. Whether someone has the money or not doesn't matter. This club is interested in making money. Someone like Limbaugh or Flynt doesn't bring anything to the table in this regard, merely it takes from it.

I don't think any of it should be looked at as personal or partisan. It's really just a financial decision and nothing less.

He's too outspoken and controversial, and the commish doesn't like that.

I doubt any commisioner in any league would approve that sale. Not saying I agree with it, just saying I really don't see MLB, or any league for that matter, allowing a porn seller to enter their club.

Being a teacher I have summers off, if someone with Flynt's money bought the Reds I would rent an apartment in cincy for three months and attend every home game!

Well, it would make for an interesting 7th inning stretch.

:) I dont know how teachers pay in WV, but if its like here, you wont afford an apt for 3 months to go to games :) Not talking junk at all for the record-in same boat basically.

Working as intended.

You wouldnt have to tell Hillary what to do.

Nah, you only need a one party system, those work so well.

If only the Republicans had Larry Flynt on their side LOL
