Nothing really to get excited about but the Reds have signed Chris Burke to a minor league deal.

The Reds have a singing what? A singing tea kettle? A singing birthday card?

Sorry.

But hey, he owns one of the top 10 playoff home runs of all time! http://www.toptenz.net/top-10-playoff-home-runs-in-baseball-history.php

Yeah, the Reds are singing, alright.

Singing that same old tune.

Chris Burke puts butts in the seats. Once the butts hit the seats, the competin' begins.

All a part of a master plan. Get Rolen for some veteran creaminess and then add Chris MF'ing Burke to the roster and the ladies come running to Great American with panties in tow.

And we boys follow dutifully and buy copious quanties of beer.

I don't know why I bother. This franchise disgusts me.

Woo=hoo! The Reds are finally makin' a big, big signing. YEAHHH. I have no problem with them signing him (as long as he's not on the OD roster), but if this is all they have to show for the winter meetings, it's pathetic.

When the juiciest Reds stuff coming from the winter meetings is about Jamey Carrol it makes me ill. When did we become the Pirates?

I like this personally, for stupid reasons. He went to my high school in Louisville. We were there at the same time, although I'm three years older and I didn't know him. It's kinda cool that at least he can play in his hometown for now and sleep at the 'rents house.

TBL is just upset because he spent two hours in line at Borders last week to get his brand new copy of 'Bakermetrics:The Queen City Years' signed by Dusty, and it turns out he was in the Sarah Palin line the whole time. That will bum a guy out.

He will get over it and Opening Day will find him in the game thread with shiny red bells on. Count on it.

I would have been quite happy if I was in the Sarah Palin line.

I like Sarah. Not just her looks, but I believe she has good intentions and is the anti-politician. But that is conversation for another message board.

While I was browsing through the free agent market on mlb.com, I happened to stop by the shortstop position. Chris Burke's name is still listed as being a Minor League free agent. These are the type of players we get. Horrible roster fillers, while everyone else in this division tries to better themselves from last year.

Nice. Someone I played with signed with the Reds!!!

It will be nice that the Burke clan will get to see him play in Louisville. That's probably the extent of it, though.
