I am one for one starting 'game threads' for the Bengals this season, so I thought I'd see if I had the same luck in the playoffs.

Go Bengals

Those are the kind of odds we like around here.
1)16-9 Bengals.

Too close to call. The Jets will have the ball in Bengal territory with under a minute to play needing a touchdown to win.

Bengals need to score on their first possession to put the pressure on Sanchez. Zimmer will have the D ready to play and with Peko and Crocker back it will be tough treading for the Jets. Ryan has been cocky all week and the Jet fans have been asking more about the upcoming Indy game than the Bengal game. This will come back to bite them 20-10 Bengals.

I'll be there as well, hopefully I'll still have all of my important body parts afterward.

Here's to hoping last week was an aberration and that Sanchez will see lots of pressure today. Make him win the game on his arm!

I was looking at PFT and saw this:

Rex Ryan is planning for a long playoff stay
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 9, 2010 11:51 AM ET

Rex Ryan says his team should be the Super Bowl favorites, and he's made the appropriate plans for a long playoff stay.

ESPN's Rachel Nichols reports Ryan handed out a schedule of practices and meetings this week to players, and the schedule ran through the end of the Super Bowl. He even listed the date for a potential parade.

Whether his tactics really make a difference or not, it's hard for this New York resident not to love what Rex Ryan has brought to the Jets. He's the biggest gift to back page headline writers since Alex Rodriguez arrived in town.

We'll see Saturday afternoon if Ryan's players can live up to their coach's belief.

They will do battle with the Bengals at full strength. Nichols reports linebacker David Harris will start at inside linebacker, as expected.

I struggle to see how a Jets offense that has struggled throughout the season will put up 27 on the Bengals.

No predictions from me. The majority of predictions I've seen say Bengals by less than a score. That usually spells doom for them in a tight match-up.

If they win, I will be more than pleased.... if they win another playoff game... I won't believe it. If they lose... I will be disappointed... if they lose big... I will hurt my television.

I think the city deserves (at the very least) a win! Redszone could use something to cheer about too!!

I have a bad feeling about this game, but so far when I get this feeling, we usually win, FWIW.

I did like hearing that we will have Crocker, Petko, and Geathers back. Hopefully Geathers can create some major pressure like he was before his injury.

When Trumpy used to call games for NBC, he would always say, "These two teams play weird football games."

Don't know how right he was, but he was referring to turnover TD's and weird plays in general, and it might have been that 01/09/1983 playoff game he was talking about.

Was Rodney Harrison thinking of making a comeback with the Bengals and then they pulled the offer or something? He's said they were 'frauds' or something similar every chance he got this season.

Tony Cloninger

In 1987 Jim Breech lined up for a game winning FG against the jets and he missed...but the jets were offside.
They lined up again and it was blocked...and returned for a TD for a Jets win 27-20 in the final ....seconds really.

That 1986 game at Cincy where the Bengals rang up over 600 yards and won 52-21...even though they were barely up at halftime of that game.

Those might be the games he was talking about.... but that 1983 game was also crazy. bengals were up....stayed close....then Anderson is picked off at the 2....Jets DB runs it back 98 yards and instead of it being 21-20 Bengals..it turned into a complete route. The bengals had held teams all year under 88 yards rushing in 1982 but for some reason McNeil they could not handle at all.

3rd and 2 denied because of number 77 on Bengals O Line who held his block but couldn't contain the D end. Another poor punt from Huber. Jets to have the ball inside Bengal territory yet again. I really don't think Huber stays with the team next year. He's been lackluster since the bye week.

I hate the conservative end of half offense.

One shot down the field would have been nice.

Bengals tried that once...Revis picked the ball off. I was wondering the first half of the season why they didn't try opening it up, but it's become quite evident that Palmer isn't the same player that he once was. He's still good (not today), but he's a shell of his former self (2005 to be exact).

Hey I have been a fan of the Bengals since 81' and Lord knows its not easy as the team seldom gives us something to be happy about. However this season with Hard Knocks and a sweep of the AFC North has given me reason to think things could be different.

That being said if the Jets come out and score a TD to start the half we are pretty much done. And it will be back to the drawing board again.

I disagree. However, I think you can make the case he hasn't been the same since Henry hurt himself. He's had one real solid game since. (Chargers) Henry provided a deep threat.... something they no longer have. Imagine Henry matched up against the nickel corner right now.

Contract extension is more likely than a firing. This loss prevents Mike from having to pay for a road trip next week. He got a few wins, enough people to buy tickets to sell out each game & pad his pocket, and sympathy from the Zimmer & Henry incidents, so he has no reason to fire Marvin as long as this team wins just enough to sell a bunch of tickets. Mediocrity is just about perfect for this franchise.
