I like this signing. Not just low risk and high reward potential, but also shows several year vision of Jocketty et al.

I love this signing! I was hoping a couple of months back they'd make a trade to get him.

Great move! No risk here and potentially huge reward!

Okay I'm confused. From I've gathered, they signed him to a 1-year contract that he'll be out for with TJ surgery. I know this can't be correct.

(Although it is the Reds ;))

According to the Reds.com article, the team will have control of him for '11. He will not even be arbitration-eligible yet by then as I understand it.

Ah. Cot's said that it was a 1-yr. deal, but I guess they were wrong.

It is a 1-year deal, but he won't be accruing service time while he's getting his surgery done. He remains under the Reds' power through 2011 since he'll not be on the 25-man roster.

Outstanding signing, IMO. I love what we're seeing lately. :beerme:

I'm really excited about this. Have always thought this kid could really throw. He will only be 27 when he is healthy, watch him end up our closer down the line.

Interesting. So is a 1-yr. contract really a 162-games on the 25-man contract?

Maybe so? I just read what I posted in ORG, so check their thread for the specifics. Somehow we retain him for the 2011 season as well.

I don't see any posts by Matt700WLW, who I'm assuming you are. Or should I be looking for another user name?

This is an absolute great move. I can't believe the Angels just let him go. He has dirrrrty stuff and a power arm. Good work Walt.

Good move by the Reds. In today's market, they need to take chances like this. Again.......good move by Walt. He's slowly gaining my confidence.

Every player that doesnt have a long term deal is a 1 year contract. Jose just happens to fall in the category where he doesnt have enough service time to reach free agency so we control him until he does.

Anybody have a video of him pitching? I heard he was insane and have heard about him but have never seen him pitch.

I found a video on Youtube, but cannot paste the link because the name contains a word that is considered bad language. Just go to Youtube and search for "Jose Arrendondo of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim".
