The World Cup is usually decided by goal keeping, so I think it's going to be one of the really good sides with an outstanding keeper:

1) Spain - The problem with the Spanish is that just scoring goals isn't enough for them. They have to be pretty goals. If they can score a little, they will win it all. Iker Casillas is a freak when he is in top form.

2) Italy - Yes, their style of play is awful to watch. Unfortunately, it works for them, though. Buffon is still in the top three in the world.

3) Netherlands - Personally, I think the Dutch play the most entertaining brand of soccer in the world. They have enough talent to truck everybody in the field if they are on their game. Problem is, their situation in goal is a mess. If I were their coach, I'd be begging Van Der Sar to make the trip to South Africa. He is getting old, but he's still solid as a rock.

I predict that a player will go down like he's been shot, roll around for several minutes in seemingly agonizing pain then get back up again like it never happened. ;)

I don't know enough to know who will win but aside from the US I'd love to see the Netherlands win. Spain tries to play beautiful soccer, the Netherlands do play beautiful soccer.

The Spaniards sometimes forget that the object of the game is to get the ball in the goal, not see how many passes you can string together. The Dutch aren't afraid to cram it down your throat when they get the opportunity.

I have a feeling this may be a good opportunity for non-European teams to have a shot at the Cup. The U.S. has done well when not playing in Europe and the African teams will have somewhat of a home field advantage. I could see South American teams doing well too. As far as who I would like to see win, the US would be first and foremost, but if not, I'd say anybody but Italy or Brazil.

It is unassailable history. The winner of the Jules Rimet trophy will be either Brazil or Agentina. Italy has no chance and the US has even less of a chance than Italy.
