I guess they're limiting his pitches, but really why not just let Lincoln finish the inning.

Maloney's also competing for a spot in the rotation but now he doesn't get to prepare like a normal game. If they said, no matter what you're starting the third inning he could prepare like it was a normal game in some ways.

If he can get these two lefties out, it will be a good start for Maloney.

I think Dusty wanted to avoid being behind in the game by fifteen runs.

I questioned it then, and I question it now, even though it doesn't really matter much, but why when you're opening up a new spring training facility and having your first televised and radio broadcast game do you throw Mike Lincoln out there? I would have thought they would have thrown out Harang, Cueto, Bailey, Arroyo or Chapman.

Sure we're all itching for some baseball, but how much of that itch is tempered w/ some Lincoln ointment going on the mound? At least, as membengal mentioned above, barring injury, no really thought Lincoln stood a chance of making the rotation. Wasn't too long ago we knew he was going to make the staff and just hoping for it to work out somehow.

Don't know.

Maloney ends the inning and it's 4-0 Tribe. Maloney effective with a K, a BB, and a GO. The walk was a close pitch with first base open.

Maloney looks very much in command out there. Would like to see him get a roster spot this year, he belongs in the major leagues.

Alonso made a nice diving stop (going to his right) but his underhand feed sailed high and when Lecure had to stretch to reach it his foot came down near the corner of the bag but the ump said he missed it. The best TV replay angle was blocked by the 1st base coach (Alomar)

Granted it's only 1 game and it doesn't 'mean' anything, but Alonso looked wretched out there. His 2 AB's were horrible and he looked foolish striking out wildly both times. Then his defensive lapse was laughable. But again, 1 game, yadda yadda. Just a really forgettable day for the kid.

Maloney looked fantastic out there and Bruce and BP hit a couple of REALLY hard shots, but right at OF'ers.
