View Full Version : Congratulations to the Panthers of UNI!
I was going to make this a PM but we might as well discuss it "out in the open" As some of you may know, ChipR is a University of Northern Iowa alumn, and I suspect he's partying his brains out, right about now.
9 seed beats #1 Kansas? Well done, my friend. Very well done. Of course you do realize that everybody's brackets are irreparably screwed up!

I have it on good authority that he ran around the dining room at BW3s this afternoon at the Redszone gathering when his team won that game. I really wish I had it on video, LOL ;)
Congrats again Chip!

Biggest basketball news there since landing Eldon Miller (http://articles.latimes.com/1986-02-28/sports/sp-12927_1_northern-iowa). ;)
I wonder who Eldon will be rooting for if UNI ends up playing the #2 seed in that region? :D

Congrats to UNI and Chip! UNI's win definitely showed that you don't need extreme athleticism to play great team defense. Great win for that program.

that was an unbelievable 3, not the shot necessarily but taking it rather than pulling it back out to run some clock. My wife is also a UNI grad and called me from Hawaii right after that shot

That shot was as Raferty would say "Onions!". What a shot! Congrats Chip. I didn't realize you were a NIU alum. That had to make your day, week and year.
So...am I the only one that picked UNI to beat Kansas? :)

There was a good article about them in Sports Illustrated a few weeks ago. If you didn't see it, you might want to check si.com for archives.

UNI is getting a new basketball floor. It just happens to be the one they will play on in St. Louis.

ChipR---my man, now that my beloved Buckeyes have been eliminated from the tourney, I throw my support totally behind your UNI Purple Panthers! (Why are all teams named Panthers usually purple anyway? :) )

Uhhhh, thanks? ;) Couldn't quite make it past Sparty but it was a great ride anyway. Oh, and coach Ben Jacobson signed a 10 year deal to stay at UNI. Rumor has it that there is a 7 figure buyout.
