With two outs, Votto doubles in the first, goes to third on a wild pitch but is left stranded when Rolen K's on a full count.

Did any one else's GameTracker stop on them with no outs in the bottom of the sixth?

Pads score 2 in the inning off of Lincoln. Both are unearned runs due to the error that let Eckstien reach first. And that brings up something that's always bothered me. The error was by Lincoln. If the error is on the pitcher, shouldn't those runs be EARNED? I understand it if it's a teammate's mistake, but HE screwed the pooch...shouldn't he be held accountable?

No because ERA is trying to measure his pitching not his fielding.

No because ERA is trying to measure his pitching not his fielding.

Another problem with ERA.

You would want a pitcher's stat to tell you how good he is at preventing the other team from scoring. It should measure the things that he can control. His own fielding is definitely something he can control.

SO, BAPIP would have to be fasctored in, if you want to only measure things he can control....

I may be wrong about this, but I think that a run scored on a wild pitch is earned, while one that scores on a passed ball is not.

As a side note, the Padres broadcasters reported that on a subsequent ground ball to first, Votto waived off Lincoln and jokingly said "I'll take it, you screwed up the last one." Gotta love spring training.
