it is interesting to see Gomes in there vs a RHP. i suspect the playing time in CF & LF is 'up for grabs' and whoever plays well gets to play more.

Dickerson's 'laser' throw to the vicinity of home plate monday didn't help his "my glove makes up for my lack of power" case.

After all the debate, I do like the way Johnny pitched to Pujols. Busting him in on the hands off the plate, then working the outside corner, coming back inside off the plate. Moving it around nicely.

Steal attempt was unnecessary. Rolen ahead in the count, let him hit away. Don't mess around with a 3-1 count in favor of a power hitter.

Gomes had no chance against Wainright there.

TheNext44
04-07-2010, 07:44 PM
thus making a steal attempt a little unneccesary

stealing on a 3-1 count is not a smart move. Most likely a fastball, and most likely the batter will let it go unless it's in his zone, in which case, he'll crush it. So either it's an easy ball for the catcher to throw, or it's hits hard, or a walk.
