For those of us out of the Cincy viewing area, I just checked...the game IS televised on WGN Chicago. I'd suggest you use that little button on your remote with "mute" written on it. :O)

Homer certainly doesn't have his good stuff today, but so far he hasn't given up any big hits. Hope for 5 innings or so where he can keep it close.

Still blowing in his hand a bunch. I really think it's that he can't get a feel for the ball.

Missing spots is one thing, but bouncing them up there and missing by 1-2 feet is another.

I really think it was just a matter of him trying to aim it, since midway thru the Ramirez AB he has consistently been in the zone, found his release point and is just letting it rip. Although 2 hits given up in that time.

Considering how off he seems to be, only down 3-1 is somewhat encouraging.

He seemed to be getting it together before that balk call. But I don't think I've ever seen him bounce so many pitches up there.

This club is so frustrating to watch. We seem always to be undoing ourselves. No reason to give up a run that inning and if Homer had just kept throwing the fastball to Nady they wouldn't have scored the second one either. Meanwhile we hit the ball hard all over the place and it's caught.

I hate when the Reds make pitchers like Carlos Silva look like Cy Young. Happens every week or so with this current edition of the team. Not sure why, but I have a hunch it has to do with "being aggressive."

Not a great start....but the old Homer would have totally imploded by the 3rd with this lack of control.

Yeah, he has. But it's not Hernandez. He simply doesn't know where it's going to go. Homer is all over the place. He's not missing in any one place. Up, down, in & out. Actually, Raisor's comparison to Nuke wasn't far off tonight.

I'm looking forward to the postgame interview with Homer to see what was bothering him. Something wasn't right.

Actually I thought Homer showed he could fight through pretty well. We're in the ballgame. He made some good pitches, especially from the stretch. Looks to me like he's having more trouble with his release point from the windup right now.

I agree with the guys in the booth. The old Homer would have given up about seven runs in this game but he battled tonight and only gave up three keeping the Reds in the game (if they could actually find some offense but that's a whole other issue). Learning experience for Homer and I'm sure he'll take this and use the lessons for his next start.

Glad to see Micah pitching well so far. :)

I know everybody's frustrated by the low pitch count, but to Silva's credit...he's been in the strikeszone an AWFUL lot. Him pitching quickly also helps him (and his defense) out. What the reds need to do is whatever they can to get Silva out of this rhythm.

I think the weather is helping a little bit with the hit batters. The pitchers aren't getting the balls gripped very well so they're a little wild tonight. That's my opinion anyway.

I hope Joey feels better. That has to suck to not feel well and be playing baseball in the cold weather tonight. :( (BTW-I volunteer to go downtown and take care of him after the game. :p: )

That's what I was thinking too. But it hasn't seemed to bother Silva. Maybe the working quickly helps combat the numb fingertips.

By the way I checked out Directv's twitter about the game not being in HD tonight and their answer to someone was "We'll be showing as many games as we can in HD this season but we will not be able to show the HD feed of every game."

I didn't say they hit them hard. They just keep going right to the Cubs players instead of finding the holes and that's kind of annoying as a Reds fan.
