Good news / bad news

Dickerson starting - it's his 29th birthday

odds are good Lincoln will be used...it's his birthday too (35)

I predict that Jay Bruce, getting frustrated with getting robbed of hits 1-3 times a game, hits it where they can't take it away. Twice.

I just checked, and I'm in seventh heaven...game is televised on WGN again. I can't remember the last time I've watched so much Reds baseball early in the season. Opening day televised on ESPN, the first two of the Cubs on WGN, and also the Monday (or tuesday...I forget) game on MLB network versus the fish. For a displaced redlegs fan...bliss. :O)

Victories against the Cubs are the best. It would make me very happy to go to Mike Leake's major league debut with a sweep of the Cubs on the line.

Agreed, let's hope that he plays some servicable D at third and gets a hit or two.

Nice slider to get Theriot. First 2 fastballs came in at 89 and 91. I hope he's just warming up. Looks like he's only throwing at 80% or so. But he's working quickly and throwing strikes, so it's hard to complain.

Harang has only missed his spot about 4-5 times all game. Unfortunately, the Cubs have hit those mistakes. That doesn't happen usually. Overall, he's pitching VERY well.

To a point, but he's leaving a ton of pitches out and over the plate. Good hitters like Pujols and Lee will crush them every time. Marginal to bad hitters will start to crush them when the weather warms and they get a hundred ABs under their belt. It will get worse if he doesn't starting coming inside to keep the hitter honest in the box. Soriano was practically standing on the plate.

One more out and its time to go get him. The Question is who to bring in, Lincoln and Ondrusek probably should stay on the bench, Cordero and Owings probably aren't available. Need to save Masset for the 9th. That just leaves lefty guys Rhodes and Herrera and neither are good choices against the cubs line-up in the 7th and with Nady on the bench.

Coming in to the day he had an .083 BABIP despite a 25.0 LD%. He's hitting the ball well, they're just finding gloves. So far today, he's walked, lined out to 2B, and flied out (I think...).
