Reds lineup (per Fay):

Dickerson 7
Cabrera 6
Votto 3
Phillips 4
Rolen 5
Bruce 9
Stubbs 8
Hanigan 2
Leake 1

vs. Vincente Padilla (1-1, 8.04 ERA; Career vs. Cincinnati: 4-2, 4.26 ERA)

I like Stubbs moved down. I like Hanigan in there. I dislike Cabrera still in there.

The main thing I'd like to see tonight is Leake having solid control and minimal walks. That aberration has been worrisome.

I do too. I could live with this and keep quiet. I mean for awhile and see how things work out, hopefully to the good, for all.

At least it is some steps in trying a little something. Which is a big step.

Single up the middle for Kemp

a thousand times yes. that is not a real 'hit'. its a ground ball to SS that a major league shortstop has to be able to make.

then the home run was basically a flyball that carried out of the bandbox that is GABP. i feel sorry for Leake.

Ghosts of 1990

I under-estimated this... but Orlando Cabrera is killing us thus far this year. he's not hitting enough to take away the # of outs he's giving away at SS

I'm beginning to wonder if Leake's supposed pinpoint control wasn't in part simply meatballs that moved too much for college hitters to square up. His control is decent, but he's left a fair number of balls over the plate and is paying the price.

In case anyone else is like me and following about three different things tonight, the NFL draft is up to pick #19 which means the Bengals will be coming up soon. :)

GO REDS!! Let's get this one without any drama! :D

I'm following 3 things too. Reds game...and my 2 middle daughters in the tub. *grin*

Why WOULD you...all 3 of them are hitting horribly. I'd ph Janish and do a double switch.

I know Cabrera is 3 for 4 tonight, but we've now got a 3 run lead and it's late in the game. Defense is MUCH more important now than offense.

Sorry to leave out Janish. I'd happily see Janish rather than Cairo.

LOL! That sounds pretty entertaining! I'm watching Private Practice (yes, I know it's a soap opera type of show, LOL), following the Reds game, and following the NFL draft. I have about five different Explorer windows open right now, LOL

Rhodes....MONEY! 1-2-3. That's how you pitch after a big scoring inning!

Tack on, anybody?

Nasty slider by Rhodes to get Johnson swinging. Paints the outside black to get Loney. Headed to Bot-8.

Bengals pick Jermaine Gresham, TE, from Oklahoma as their first pick in the NFL draft (in case anyone doesn't know yet). Good pick! :)

Reds 8th:

George Sherrill in to pitch.

Dickerson grounds out to 3rd.
Cabrerra walks.
Votto lines a single to center.
Phillips takes a strike, then Torre pulls Sherrill and puts Troncoso in.
Phillips Ks on a foul tip.
Rolen Ks swinging.

After 8 innings, Reds 8, Dodgers 5.

How would we react if Dusty did it? In an 8-5 game?

You think maybe Torre noticed the lefty/righty splits for Brandon just after the AB started (or a coach brought it up)? It may have been one pitch late, but it was the right move regardless.

Dodgers 9th:

Cordero in to pitch.

Casy Blake pops out to Phillips on the 1st pitch.
DeWitt walks to keep it interesting.
Martin singles past Cabrerra into center (why the H___ is O.Cab still in there !@! Terrible!)
Belliard pinch hitting for Troncoso, Ks swinging.
Furcal flies out to Dickerson in left.

And this one belongs to the Reds, 8 to 5. The Reds take the three game series from the Dodgers, 2 games to 1. Not bad.....

OMG, I just now saw the Rolen double that scored Joey and Orlando in the 7th inning (was watching something else during the last few innings) and I don't think I've EVER seen Joey that animated and pumped up at home plate after scoring a run!! That was SO awesome. :D

It feels good to beat the Dodgers. I hate them. I love LA (just like Randy Newman), have respect for Joe Torre, and simply adore Dodger Dogs, but I HATE the Dodgers. So, it was a good night.

We finally got the offense going and who broke the game open? Scott Rolen. You know him--the guy who can't play but 110 games and is overpaid. Just like Frank Robinson, Ken Griffey, Jr. and Adam Dunn. Strange. We allow 28 runs in the series (average of 9+, albeit with a 14-run abberation vs. an average of 8+ for the good guys) and score 25. Where's the pitching for both teams.

Why is it we can go into Pittsburgh and stink up the joint and Milwaukee comes in and scores like 100 runs against the same guys? Sad story is that Loserburg is still a half game ahead of us. Why do we always have trouble with them and then beat a much better team? Home field advantage?

Nothing like winning a series from the Dodgers. Nothing. Now let's beat the Padres -- even sweep them.
