Phillips lines the 1st pitch right to Byrd in center.
Votto HRs to dead center....SWEET: Fireworks already!
Rolen Ks on a check swing.
Gomes lines a single to left.
Bruce pounds a hard grounder the other way, ARam dives and gets it, but the throw is late: infield single.

Pretty good assesment. He's also guilty of guessing quite often.

I used to think this was the case. But I don't think it really is. It does seem that way cause he looks fooled often. However, he looks fooled because his weight is distributed before his mind recognizes what was thrown. It's not the step that does it. It's his body coming forward at the same time.

Gomes Ks swinging at a breaking ball in the dirt.
Bruce Ks swinging at a high 90 mph fastabll.

Cubs 7th:

Soriano Ks looking.
Soto Ks looking.
Castro doubles down the right field line.
Fontenot works Harang hard, fouling off 6 pitches, before walking on the 11th pitch of the plate appearance.
Dusty removes Aaron Harang, who leaves to a standing ovation.

Mike Lincoln in to pitch with 2 outs, and runners on 1st and 2nd.
Theriot nubs an infield single toward third that Lincoln can't handle.
Dusty pulls Lincoln.

Rhodes in with the bases loaded, two outs.
Xavier Nady, pinch hitting for Fukudome, walks in a run.
Lee bounces out to Rhodes.

Harang threw 121 pitches over 6 and 2/3 innings. He was still throwing 93 mph fastballs in the 7th. He struck out 9, walked 1, and gave up 7 hits and two earned runs.

Reds 3, Cubs 2.

The home plate ump tonight, Jerry Layne, has been giving both pitchers the corners. That has been a real factor in all the Ks looking.
