Legendary illustrator Frank Frazetta passed away this morning.
Best known for his 1960s Conan covers & all the covers he did for Creepy & Eerie. Absolutely my all time favorite artist. No one even comes close.
His painting came alive with action. Often imitated but never surpassed. He had a series of strokes a few years ago and had been out of the limelight since. I know his wife passed away within the last year so it doesn't suprise me that he passed so quickly after her. I have several framed posters of his work scattered aropund my house. If I were Bill Gates I could afford an original or two.

Back in the early to mid-50s he was one of the staff artists for the EC Comics titles of Weird Science and Weird Fantasy. Later the two were combined to create Weird Science-Fantasy.

Frazetta was unsurpassed in what he contributed. As was mentioned, he excelled in action sequences and also in detail.

I just wonder how many of the old EC staff are still around. Probably not many.
