9IP, 1H (maybe), 0R, 0BB, 8K (1HBP....maybe).

Game Score of 93.

Halladay, Zambrano, Buehrle, and Cliff Lee have only had 2 Starts with Game Scores of 90+. Lincecum has only had 1 (a 91).

Unbelievable gathering together of our Starting Pitching staff.

and thank God the bullpen got a night off.

Cueto has been pitching well lately.

Best part of tonight's win, IMO.

Outstanding effort by Cueto. Good showing by Heisey as well! Glad he got his first homerun! :D

Cueto can be dominate as anyone. I wish he put it together more often. Guy can be amazing.

The guy throws a 1-hitter and there are only 4 posts!?!

Yes, I hope there is more to this than him simply doing well against a crappy team.

Im going to say that Cueto is more than talented enough to do this to any team in the majors. Pirates or not.

Oh yeah, and the pitch count was superb.

I hope these young guys can push eachother, and Homer Bailey was motivated by he saw. Hopefully, a thing like this can really snowball, and he will want to match his peers out there.

that Game Score was the same Braden had in his perfect game.

Best Game Score by a Red since Tom Browning's perfect game.

Last one hit shutout by a Red since John Smiley did it against the Cardinals on September 22nd, 1996.

So, all in all, pretty good I guess...
Too bad Janish couldn't use his Gold Glove (cough cough) to bring that one in.
Good thing O-Cab wasn't playing, otherwise we'd have to read 9 pages on how Janish would have made that play.

I was busy watching the Celts-Cavs.

That was impressive. To bad it was infront of 2k ppl instead of at Great American.

^^Yeah, it's too bad weeknight games in Pittsburgh have fewer fans than many minor league games.

Agreed. This is the first time in recent memory the Bucs haven't been a lock for last place. How long has it been since they've had a player like McCutchen? (I don't count Nate McLouth.)

Amazing that he threw 103 pitches exactly one month ago versus the Pirates and only lasted 5 innings.

This time he throws 103 pitches and gets the complete game shutout.

I finally saw that play by Janish. That was a hit all the way. Even if he'd gotten to it, he had to go so far to get it, the throw wouldn't have been made in time to get the runner. Maybe w/ Cabrera's "veteran" experience, he would have lined up in a different spot and made the play, though. You never know. There's way too much irony here.

"Best Game Score since Browning's Perfect Game, and same as Braden's Perfect Game".....Wow!

Watching the REDS is a lot of fun this year (and probably the next several years).

Maybe nobody should attend Cueto's next start in GABP. Maybe he just likes pitching in front of 2k.

Where it would have been 3k :) J/k, sort of. Great job by Cueto, and the team, as others have said, hope this goes viral and everyone is infected by the effort and wins; makes the game more fun, relaxes the players, which makes winning more likely....The smiles in the dugout lately have been very noticeable.

Did anyone else notice that Cueto's velocity was down much of the ballgame? For the most part he stayed around 90-91. But it's not like he just didn't have his velocity because I saw him ratchet up to 95 a few times in the middle of the game. I wonder if he's taking a page from Leake and sacrificing a few MPH in the name of better command? The best part was, the movement was as good or even better on the 90-91 fastballs as it was on the 95 ones.

mattfeet

He was throwing 95 in the 8th inning still.
