Penny's ERA is 1.70. Why is it so hard for him to get simple things right?

Degenerate39...it doesn't matter how many times I see it, I start laughing every single time I see that picture of Gomes wearing that sombrero. Just a great, great pic. :O) And its not just the hat...that face is hilarious.

I'd like to see Chris get some starts too...but with the way Jonny's swinging the lumba'....no chance.

Talent is talent no matter where you hit.

Stubbs is doing better in the 7th hole, right now, because the pressure if off him a bit to relax. Once he starts getting more experience and becomes more consistent, I don't see why, with his speed and ability to take pitches & draw walks, he can't be an effective leadoff guy.

Because you aren't looking at the human element. He might be a guy that doesn't understand the leadoff spot. Maybe he's fighting his instincts in that position. It would explain all the looking at pitches right down the pike. Remember, Larkin hated hitting leadoff for a reason. Some guys aren't suited for it.

I agree with this. He just needs to convince HIMSELF that he can hit these guys. Like many young hitters, (well, vets too but they at least KNOW it) relaxation is key. He's gotta stay loose...he may be a great leadoff hitter in the future. :D

On the contrary, I think he understands it too much. Even Dusty said that Drew's problem was that he was trying too hard to be selective and take pitches, and it was putting him at a disadvantage later in the count. Yeah, I'll buy that not everyone is cut out for it psychologically, but I don't think that's the case with him. He just needs to get acclimated to Major League pitching and get into a rhythm.

I hate MLBs TV rules. They are really dumb. Just cause you don't show my team, you think I'm gonna watch the Yankees and Mets? No, I'm going to watch something else (where I would be watching FSN, which you make money from FOX) and listen to the game.

Brantley gets distracted by side activities. The call just now about Bruce and Stubbs coming together and not once in chattering about it does he say the catch was made. I assumed it was since I dropped ball would have jolted him into action, presumably. He did the same thing earlier on a ball that was hit deep, readying himself to call it out, and then came up short on his call with it bouncing off the wall. I'm not a Brantley foe, but he needs to polish his game. He's a nice enough guy who adds some insight, but it just needs to get those rough edges off.
