What is the point? As soon as a team gets in, they pretty much leave. Especially when its a team in our division. I think its stupid, just my opinion.

There isn't any other way to play out a 162-game season without having some of these.

In my opinion, the season should be shortened to a 154-game season, but the 2-game series would still have to stay.

54 3-game series = 162.

If you played 6 games a week, taking either Monday or Thursday off, you'd need 189 days to play the season, so really 7 more days. (The current CBA sets the length of the season 183 days to play 162 games). This doesn't include the All-Star break, so really, you'd have to add 10 days. It would be pretty easy to start a week early, rather than the silly exhibition games that take place after spring training.

You didn't calcuate it all out. It's not physically possible.

There are travel rules involved. There are a different number of teams in the Central than there are in the other two divisions....same goes for the AL West. Home and Away have to be balanced. There are many more factors. Thus, there has to be 2 games series.

As GIDP pointed out, you could do the 5-game series, but there has to be a reason they can't do that, either.

They can't have double-headers, either, anymore.

Major League Baseball has really screwed things up trying to squeeze out every last buck. They've watered down the quality trying to do it. They need to get back to giving the fans a quality product. The REDS' are a quality product right now, but too many teams just aren't. Too many games played in cold weather in the beginning and end of seasons. Games take too long. They cost too much (for where you sit).

Minor League Baseball is the most fun to watch.
