Nobody in either league has won more than 7 out of 10 except Boston, who's won 5 in a row and 8 out of 10.
The Current Division Leaders (and 2nd place in the Division) and their last 10 games including their current streaks:
Tampa Bay......(6-4, L3)
NY Yankees.....(4-6, W1)
Minnesota.......(4-6, L2)
Detroit............(5-5, L2)
Texas.............(6-4, L1)
Oakland..........(6-4, W1)
Philadelphia......(4-6, L4)
Atlanta............(7-3, L1)
Cincinnati........(6-4, W1)
St. Louis..........(5-5, L2)
San Diego........(6-4, W4)
Los Angeles......(7-3, W1)
So, as anyone can see, all of the "contenders" have struggled their last 10 games, or at least are not necessarily "surging". Now is the time though for the REDS to pick it up a notch and put together an 8 of 10 stretch and put a little space between them and the rest.
And, the other 5 teams that are above .500 in the NL have also not been "surging".
Colorado.........(6-4, W4)
San Fransisco...(3-7, L1)
Florida.............(5-5, L1)
NY Mets.........(6-4, W4)
Washington.....(4-6, W1)
That's a lot of teams above .500 in the National League (11 teams with a .511 or better percentage).
