Meredith is on the O's, he's not as good as he was in his early years with the Padres.

Rafael Soriano is on the Rays. And I fail to see why they would be in the market to trade him, seeing as he's their closer.

my bad. I thought he played for the braves.

O's could be dealing since they have tanked.Chris Ray,or Mike Gonzalez though I don't know if he is on the DL still.

They said that Walt is looking at the Rays closer? Honestly? I dont buy it for a second, let alone that he would even be on the table.

Soriano has been absolutely stellar this season. No way Rays trade him. Not sure who they could be looking at off the Braves roster. Not sure what Meredith would bring to the table, hasn't been good the past 3 seasons.

Siriano? Uh, no. He's not going anywhere.

I wouldn't be looking at those other guys. There are much better relievers out there to be had, IMHO.

I heard a rumor that Heath Bell was on the trading block on San Diego. Any truth to that and would he be someone that the Reds could look at?

Bell isn't going anywhere. He is cheap and they are in a tight divisional race. Makes no sense to trade a A+ closer on a team who plays in alot of tight games.

Most teams have young cheap closers. Soria, Zumaya (not really a closer but has the stuff), Wood, Jenks, Capps, Qualls are about the only ones that'll be available come the deadline. So basically Soria, Jenks, Zumaya....

You have to look at teams that are out of it or obviously will be, and how they are rebuilding. Those are the typical teams willing to trade veteran players for prospects. KC's Soria would be a good one, but not sure they'd part with him. I listed a bunch on a thread several days ago. Not sure where the thread is now.

I'd really like to see WJ get Meredith.
