Same here, I refuse to go to games that he pitches. He's an average pitcher against PIT and HOU but put him up against a real MLB team and you see what happens.

Obviously a bad start to the game for Aaron, but come on guys. Some of you are making it sound as if he's a AAA starter. Hearing Dusty talk about him as an "ace" still is frustrating, but he's still a decent starter to have around. But at this stage of his career, he's a #4 starter or so. And yes, he'd been much better lately.

He takes his team out of games before they ever even bat!

Maybe because in his last 9 starts he is 5-2 with a 3.93 ERA, 44-13 K/W ratio.

The most runs he's given up in any of those 9 games is 4.

Disagree. Things are blow out of proportion obviously because he's struggling so badly tonight. But when he's on, he's VERY good.

He'll have excellent games and stinkers, but on average he's a middle of the road starter and an innings eater. Not a bad thing to have.

No, this is where we disagree. He wasn't "on" his last 9 starts. He was in between. I think we've all seen Aaron when he's ON his game. Just like we're seeing him off it tonight.

This isn't saying that I don't think he'll be the first guy we trade once Edinson becomes ready (or someone else).

Agreed. THAT Harang ain't coming back. But he's still a decent pitcher and a useful pitcher. He's HIGHLY overpaid for the production he's putting out the past 3 years, that's for certain. But his stats are still decent for a #4 or so.

The last 9 starts, after a poor start, indicates he was trending in the right direction.

His ERA last year was 4.21.

You are looking at his first 4 starts this year, otherwise his ERA is around 4 for about 40 starts.

You are more guilty of doing what you claim I have done.

12-31 is decent for nobody. Reds are 5-8 when Harang starts this year (on the way to 5-9), and 31-20 when anybody else starts.

True, but it also shouldn't be looked at as the end-all, be-all either. That first season of struggles, he had one of the worst run supports in all of baseball and his other stats weren't that bad at all. I'm not saying he's great, but he was the recipient of some rather bad luck the past 2 years in addition to his struggles. W/L record is a bad stat to look at for Harang in particular IMO due to his odd support during that stretch.

I don't need stats to tell me what Aaron Harang is. I've seen every start he's made this season on his best days I felt like I was on pins and needles as he navigated through the lineup. Or, the team scored so many runs even he couldn't screw it up. He's not a good pitcher, guys aren't hitting texas leaguers off of him they are hitting line drives, they aren't hitting can of corn they are hitting home runs. Pitiful, I've had my feel of Harang it's time for him to go.

Ding ding ding ding ding

Harang is so "old Reds." He is part of the Encarnacion, Freel, Junior group that did nothing but lose here. He doesn't know how to win, and players like that have to be shipped out permanently if this team has any hope of turning the corner.

Wonder how long until the field becomes un-playable?They have a great drainage system at the stadium. I was at the game Saturday night and the conditions were perfect and then later I saw the pictures from earlier that day where the outfield was under water from a really severe storm and you would have never known they had that looking at the field that night. So the field drains quite well so they could probably still get it ready to play tonight.

By the way, Herrera, Ondrusek, and Owings are pretty much useless to this team.

Just saying.

You could post this in just about every game thread, just mix and match the names. For the past several weeks it's been people begging Dusty to use Owings much more because he's been so "effective". Since his most recent callup, people have been high on Ondrusek. This past week I've heard people calling for Burton & Bray...of course once they do get up here and struggle, they'll be added to the list as well.

Smith did well, but give him a week or so and he'll be on that list too. Masset, Cordero, Lincoln, Fisher, Del Rosario...they've ALL been on the list. Only one reliever hasn't given Reds fans anything to spank him about and that's Arthur.

We need to address the pen, and the answer is NOT in house. And it's CERTAINLY not converting a starter from Louisville.
