(((Joey))) (((Chris))) I hope they both have good games today and that their dads are sitting in a special heavenly box seat watching this afternoon. I really feel for the guys in this game that don't have their dads around anymore because you know they all grew up playing the game with them and probably miss them a lot on Father's Day. And on a side note, I found out earlier today that Furcal's dad passed away in the DR this morning. I think that's why they put him on the bereavement list during the Dodgers series this past week. :(

Interesting Bio for this Australian Pitcher:

from wiki:

Rowland-Smith is the son of Australian celebrity trainer Rob Rowland-Smith, known as "The Sandhill Warrior."[18] Rowland-Smith's older sister, Rhiannon, is a professional surfer.[19] He himself is an avid surfer, and spends a lot of his time in the off-season in his native Australia surfing.[19] Rowland-Smith's mother, Julie White, is a retired high school physical education teacher.[18] His grandfather was Australia's minister for sport and recreation.[18] His parents divorced when he was three and along with his sister they lived with their mother in Newcastle.[18] Growing-up, Rowland-Smith watched baseball on video cassettes because Major League Baseball wasn't carried on Australian networks back then.[18] He is the first player with a hyphenated last name ever to appear in a major league game.[20] He maintains his own blog and Twitter account to keep up with fans.[21] As of 2007, Rowland-Smith dates Mikaela Dombkins, shooting guard for the Australian women's national basketball team that won the silver medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics.[22]

Two 1-0 losses (and a single run scored the entire series) to a last-place team that was 16 games under .500 when the Reds got there.

Can it get any uglier?

I blame Paul keels for all of this. His monotone has obviosuly put the bats to sleep

Could've been 10-0?

He does make losing games worse, almost intolerable. At least, Grande remained upbeat, no matter the score.

Ichiro looking for his Ichi hit and is denied by a good play by Ocab. Three out.

I prefer Stubbs in there. If he gets on, you can do things.

Too late for this season, but if he doesn't spend the whole winter shortening it up, the coaching staff has failed him.

Better opposition pitching in June? Reds players fatigue?

69 Runs in 18 games. 3.83 per game and a seasonal pace of 621 runs. That sounds like the offense I expected before the season. The run scoring days of May just weren't reality. Everybody was hot at once. It can and will be better than this, but a pace of 4.25 to 4.50 or so per game for the rest of the year wouldn't surprise me.

I agree with the majority that you are indicating.

I don't or did not expect the offense to be as good as they were, the opponents to be as bad as they were before June. When I looked at the teams pitching that the Reds were to play in June I expected some reduction in offense, but I did not think they would fall off this much.

This team fools me too much in both directions. I don't know what to make of them. I suppose we will see a rebound in the better direction pretty soon.

Maybe

Harang and Cueto needed to pitch shutouts and find a way to hit a home run without being able to bat.

They are da funk right now.

You're facing a pitcher who is 0-6 in 11 starts and with an ERA shy of 7, and you make him look like Cy Young.
