USA Football fans should be familiar with this announcer.
I've seen this goal probably 60 times now and I still get chills, and there's just something about this call:
YouTube - USA VS ARGELIA GOOOOL MINUTO 91, USA VS ALGERIA. USA SCORES AT THE LAST MINUTE. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhAZD5XCucY&feature=player_embedded)

Tons, I'm sure.
Believe it or not, I know the guy who has the game ball. Talk about a keepsake..

I don't know if this goal has made it into Eruzione territory in my mind yet, but it's close.

Well, if this had come in the semis against Brazil or Argentina or Germany it might.

That's the thing. But there were other dynamics in 1980 that we won't see here no matter who we play. Win the whole thing and that goal does become one of those "I remember where I was when" moments.

Perhaps but the 80 hockey game had other things going for it too. The Cold War was going strong and the Soviets were the top dog. The Olympics were in the U.S. that year so that helped with home ice advantage and there was the situation in Iran with the hostages. American pride was mighty low at the time. Plus, this was a game played with college kids against quasi-professionals most of whom would have been able to step into the NHL and not miss a beat. The U.S. soccer team are a bunch of pros and there's no real global rival for fans to get up for. Brazil, Germany and Argentina are the best teams in world soccer. The U.S. has no real quarrel with any of those countries so it's difficult to stoke nationalist fervor among people who only watch soccer once every 4 years.
