Fully expected to see the Sunday Special Lineup today, nice surprise to see all the regs except one. Happy that Baker seems to fully sense that this team is in the hunt for a playoff race and that every game counts. Hopefully good Bronson shows up today.

While every game counts, I fully expect to see subs throughout the season, as the temps are currently out of control and a team that is rested will be a team in the hunt when it's August, not just late June. Expect to be disappointed as guys get starts and Dusty tries his best to not replay Durocher's 1969 mistake.

FWIW, players like Rolen are rested for a Sunday game because the thought is that it will help win more games over the course of the season.

It's not done for fun.

Exactly, and the thought that "Dusty gets it" cracks me up, I hope he "gets it" he's being paid millions and he's been in the game since the 60's.

I think the thing that Dusty gets is that while he can afford to rest a guy here or there, he can't afford to sit down two or three guys at the same time while streaking. When your on a roll you want to keep the Big Mo.

I'm actually kind of relieved that we get to face Halladay instead of Hamels this week because Cole usually stifles the Reds something awful but Halladay has had a few rough patches lately. I said if we were still losing by the 6th inning. I'll give the guys a chance in the bottom of the 6th (Cabrera, Votto, Rolen might get something going there) but after that, I'm changing it. I hate when one of my Votto shirts is cursed!

This curse goes back to last year though too! I don't think the Reds have won a game since spring of 2009 whenever I've worn this shirt. It's the very first Votto shirt I ever got and now the Reds seem to lose every time I wear it. I may or may not be turning into a superstitious person, LOL

On pitches like that it looks like Gomes dives in to the ball and ends up swinging under it. If he'd just keep his upper body still he'd still generate plenty of power and wouldn't swing through it so often.

I was at the game and I thought his strike zone was erratic. Really, it came down to a failure on one stinking pitch and there are three more runs on the board. It happens. Still it would have been good to have added a game on the Cards.

I've come to the conclusion that if DR Herrara can't get called strikes, he will always be in trouble because he only had one swinging strike that I recall. And he didn't miss by much on some pitches, which is why I think the zone was a moving one.

For some reason this loss feels real disappointing to me. I'm not sure why; after winning 5, they were plenty due to lose one, and it's not like they got smoked. It's just that 2 sweeps in a row before Philly/ The Road Trip begins would've been nice I guess.
