As indicated in the title of this thread the game is on the MLB Network today. I assume it will be the Phillie announcers since the Reds don't see fit to ever televise a weekday afternoon game.

This is why I listen to matinee games on rado.

Reds radio > Visitors TV (although the Phils TV guys are pretty good, some of my favorites in the league)

They don't do it often but they are televising all of the Cubs series this week including tomorrow and Friday's games which are day games.

Hope you bring them some good luck today 320!

Not to say he's been great or anything but Harang's last 10 starts he's at 60 IP, and a 4.18 ERA. Are we saying we don't want a league average starter going for the rest of the year? Do we have 5 guys better than 6 IP, 2 or 3 runs per start? Because if we do. The Reds are going to be in great shape.

Well his entire season stats admittedly are below league average, but for the remainder of the season I want the guy who has been pitching better in the last two months.

I'm not suggesting that they re-sign him. But they spent the $20 million, they might as well use it.
Harang went 6 IP, gave up 3 Runs. That smells an awful like what he's done since the calendar flipped to May. Find me 5 better pitchers right now and we'll talk.

I strongly disagree.

The offense overall is far better than expected and leads the league in most major categories.

The pitching numbers are quite disappointing.

You cannot compete against top pitching with this staff. The numbers don't lie. The Reds problem right now is the pitching staff and the need is for a TOR pitcher.

I'm not suggesting that they re-sign him. But they spent the $20 million, they might as well use it.
Harang went 6 IP, gave up 3 Runs. That smells an awful like what he's done since the calendar flipped to May. Find me 5 better pitchers right now and we'll talk.

Most contending teams have a starting pitcher the opposition fears. The Reds lack this dimension and it will hurt them down the stretch.

Cut him some slack? I'm by no means condemning Mike Leake to John Roperville or Lance Davistown, but just curious what in their most recent performances leads you to believe Mike Leake would be more likely to produce better down the stretch THIS SEASON? For that matter what leads you to believe Volquez would produce better than say 90-100IP over 15-16 starts and better than a 4.50 ERA.

If you take Aaron Harang's contract out of the equation, why do you not expect him to do what he's been doing for the last two months?

I can't take the contract out of the equation. Harang is eating up money that should go to a TOR starter. Leake isn't.

Leake is a rookie who performed superbly earlier this season. I would give him some more time. But eventually, if he doesn't get it going, Travis Wood or Homer Bailey will become the fifth starter.

And let's not forget that Harang had a 5.07 ERA before today. Leake - a rookie paid far less - had a 3.30 even with his recent outings.

If we get a top line starter, the team trading him won't take Harang back.

If I'm the Reds I'm exploring deals for Harang to open up payflex for a TOR starter.

Maybe you are right that he's not tradeable. I have no idea, but I'm exploring it.
