What's cowcrap yapping about now?

Oh, he was saying all day that people are making too big of a deal about Votto getting snubbed. It turned out to be great free pub for Votto though. Cowherd was saying Votto is fourth-best out of Pujols, Howard and Gonzalez. (Not necessarily just this year, but overall.)

Screwball
07-05-2010, 07:24 PM
That was an absurdly good at bat by David Wright. Fouled off numerous tough 2-strike pitches, and got a clean single on a pretty tough 3-2 changeup.

Blitz Dorsey
07-05-2010, 07:26 PM
Ike Davis gives us a good idea of where Yonder should be at this stage of his career. Both first basemen drafted in the first round in 2008 (much like Smoak). However, Davis doesn't have a stud like Votto blocking his way to the Majors. (Not that it would matter right now with Alonso, he isn't ready.)

RedsManRick
07-05-2010, 07:26 PM
After that great battle with Wright, that's two bad pitches he got hurt on -- both up in the zone.

RedsManRick
07-05-2010, 07:28 PM
And got lucky on Frenchy there. That caught a lot more of the plate than he intended. Glad he got out of there with just 1 run.

Seems to me the Reds have been instructed to take all of Pelfrey's first pitches of an at-bat. Both Gomes and Cabrera took first pitch fastballs over the plate, and normally they're hacking at just about any first offering.

Just checked, and every other Reds batter has taken the first pitch as well.

They got it right without needing replay this time.

You'd have to ask if Rolen made an effort to get out of the way. He was almost swinging.

Good point, but that is never called, so players never worry about it. But it should be called more often.

The 0-1 pitch looked like a strike and Pelfrey was pizzed. Next pitch (1-1 instead of 0-2) Stubbs ripped for the 2-RBI single.

Borderline call. I thought it was strike but could have been called either way.
